The power of Vibhuti

Dear Divine Souls,

For the last one week I suffered excruciating pain on my side and back.

Hours of massage and muscle relaxants were of no avail. Usually I

dislike going to doctors, because I have very little faith in Allopathic

medicine. (I apologize to my medical friends!). On the sixth day, I was

casually mentioning this to my friend, who is a nurse practitioner. She

asked, "Do you feel a pain like the tooth-ache?" I was floored! Because

that was how I had described my pain the my husband the previous night.

She continued, "You have Shingles!" Then she went on to give me the most

unfailing remedy of all. She said, "You have collected a lot of vibhuti

packets over the years from Amma. Now rub that vibhuti all over your

back." I sheepishly acknowledged the directives. Lo and behold! The next

day, all pain disappeared.

Dear brothers and sisters - it is not that I want you to focus on the

pain and its removal, but the sweet innocent faith of my nurse/friend.

Despite all knowledge of modern medicine, she chose to direct me to the

Divine Healing. I am ashamed to say that throughout the six days' of

pain, not once did I remember to take Amma's holy water or vibhuti. This

was Amma's gentle way of reminding me that I should focus more on the

Divine. Amma also showed me the innocent trust that many of Her children

have in Her.
