In reading it, what particularly touched me was reading that India is really Bharata and that her inhabitants are Bharatians. I realize that I've read that before, but it never really sunk in before. How to explain what I'm feeling? One afternoon while we were at the Ashram last January, we took the backwater tour and on the last stop, the boat wouldn't start, so we all walked to the road and walked back to the Ashram as the sun went down. In the houses all along the road, the oil lamps began to glow. The darker it got, the brighter they appeared. These lamps seemed so comforting compared to electric lights. They draw people to them. They dance. They sing. India is electricity. Bharata is a sea of oil lamps. I give thanks that Bharata shares her Light with the rest of the world.
