Guest guest
Dear siblings in Amma. Since solstice seems more like new year's to me and I had celebrated that event in satisfying ways, I hadn't made any special plans for New Year's eve or day. We were invited to a little party which we left after awhile because I had realized that it was important to observe this time with some degree of consciousness and playing board games and being with alcohol drinking wasn't going to do it for me. But what to do at the last minute? Couldn't very well call up a few devotees and organize a satsang at 10:30 pm on New Year's Eve, though I was wishing that I'd done that. Anyway, we came home and just sat quietly and then I realized that saying our evening prayers and doing arati as usual was going to feel the best. So that's what we did around midnight. This morning we had a very emotional and profound discussion about Amma in our life, processing some issues that we'd been needing to address and we come to some wonderful new understandings and agreements. It really was as if Amma had stepped in and counseled this humble pair of householders! After archana, which I must admit was very late today, we decided to take our cabin fevered dog to the dog park, her favorite thing. We haven't taken her in weeks because of the weather, snow, snow and more snow. Today was a little warmer, relatively speaking, and it was beautifully sunny. We had a glorious walk around the park, enjoying all the other dogs and humans, many also out for the first time in awhile. As we were driving home and getting back into town, I suddenly noticed that the car in front of us had AMMA on the bumper sticker. Now, this would not be unusual if we were in San Ramon or Santa Fe are in the area of a program, but I've never seen such a sticker here. We never did see who was in the car since we turned and it went on. Doesn't matter. Because we both felt like Amma was reminding us that she is indeed with us as we begin this new millenium. Om Amriteshvaryai Namah.
