Guest guest
Thank you for THE INTERMINABLE JOURNEY. It inspires me to finally enter this Rumi poem, which I've been wanting to offer since someone sent it to me recently. Jai Ma! premarupa LOVE DOGS One night a man was crying, Allah! Allah! His lips grew sweet with the praising, until a cynic said, "So! I have heard you calling out, but have you ever gotten any response?" The man had no answer to that. He quit praying and fell into a confused sleep. He dreamed he saw Khidr, the guide of souls, in a thick, green foliage. "Why did you stop praising?" "Because I've never heard anything back" "This longing you express >is< the return message." The grief you cry out from draws you toward union. Your pure sadness that wants help is the secret cup. Listen to the moan of a dog for its maser. That whining is the connection. There are love dogs no one knows the names of. Give your life to be one of them. -Jelaluddin Rumi
Guest guest
just fyi: This reference to dogs reminds me one weet form of God, Shri Dattatreya, who is always surrounded by white dogs and puppies. He has three heads, supposed to be one of the manifestation of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh - The Trinity. This manifestation is very unique because He resides away under a tree (banyan?) and sometimes there may be a cow around Him (Krishna?). His reference is given in Srimad Bhagavatam and when I was reading it I was totally 'zapped'. He talks about how nature has been Guru to Him and how various things of life become One's Guru to learn from. It's really worth reading - today being Guruwaar 'Thursday' = this is a very good reminder of Guru. Om Guruve Namah Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnu Gurur Devoh Maheshwaraye Namah, Gurur Devoh Dattaye Namah. Thank you Amma!
