Guest guest
Dear Siblings in Amma, just a little report from our son, telling about some of the changes at Amritapuri since we were there last year: i'm writing from the computer school across the backwaters. the ashram has email but only three computers so you have to wait forever. my seva is in the western cafe, taking orders and cooking every day from about 12:45 to 5:45. it's a lot of work but it feels good to do it, only sometimes i wish i was in a less social environment. it's a good challenge for me though. there's also a new espresso bar right next to the cafe, and the juice bar got moved to next to the temple, near where the rice is cooked and the indian canteen. the indian store is vastly expanded and is now more like a general store, and the menu at the cafe is bigger and may get bigger yet. amma wants people to feel like they can get everything they need inside the ashram. so people can get their morning cappuccino without leaving now...amma knows best. the day after i got here was the first time devi bhava was held in the new hall, and the day after that was the first time bhajans were held there. both are always there now. at first i was devastated, and so was eveybody, because amma is so much further away for bhajans. but the first night there was a railing, which partially obstricted the view, and that was immediately cut down, and now the only problem is the stage is way too high. no one knows why it has to be so high, since everyone sits down in the hall.
