Guest guest
Thanks for the responses. I was working today and my friend told me that she was going to see Dalai Lama. I couldn't get tickets and somebody told me that it was sold out. It was 5 pm and I decided to go. Shoreline it' s very close to where I live and work. I didn't have tickets but I was walking with the people. It was a huge amount of people walking to see Lama. I was thinking how great it will be to find events like that more often. The atmosphere was full of love. It remind me when I went to see Amma for first time last year. I was already enjoying Dalai Lama's visit without being inside the amphiteather. Then I went to the window and they told :"It's sold out" I was walking when I saw a friend that goes to the bookstore where I work and he said " Hey you have tickets? Go inside and have a seat" I went it and listening to Dalai Lam's talk It was very nice. Inside it was quite and with a great energy. There were people from different races, different ages, and different religious. This event was open to anybody. It was great. Afterwards, people where there just smiling to each other. When I saw Amma last year it was in similar circunstances. I was planing to see her a few days in advance. I didin't know too much about her but her name came to me in different ways. For instance, I used to get old frames to put my pictures. A long time ago, I got one with an image. I had it for almost a year in my closet. Then I met a friend who was becoming a devotee of Ammachi. One day I took some pictures of my friend and decided to give a photo as a gift. By this time she was in so much love with Amma. When I went to get a frame for the picture I picked the one I got a long time ago. I was ready to take out the picture when I saw in the image Amma's portrait. So, I decide to give the frame with the picture to my friend because I thougth it belongs to her. She love it! Then when I heard Amma was coming last year I made plans to see what this was about. At this point I already met more friends devotees of her. All I knew it was her name and also a beautiful picture of her holding a child. I love that picture! Anyway, I was planning to see her when , suddenly ,the very same day, my car broke down. I was astonished that that happened the same day. I lived in Mountai View and San Rafael is about 2 hours. I thougth " maybe it was meant to be" Hours went by and I started to feel disapointed. I was sitting in my living when I saw a friend in my door. I told her what happened and she offered a ride! The great thing was that she didn't even know where I was going. That's how I went to see Amma last year and It was a wonderful experience. The place was full of love. Everybody was loving and kind. It was another world. I loved to see the children barefoot running around the place or just resting near their parents on the floor. The atmosphere was full of peace and I was enlightened by that. For this year I'm planning to see her again. This time I hope nothing happen to my car. Althougth, I know that thereare at least a couple of devotees in Mountain View. I hope every goes well because I want to take my little son. About the story of Amma driving by Middlefield Rd in Menlo Park, I just can't picture her in a van driving around the area where I live. I didn't know she lectured in the Jewish Center in Palo Alto. That's where I go to work out in the pool! Forgive me about my broken english. It's not my first language but I hope you got the feeling which is universal. Thank you Daniel for sharing your experience of going to see the Dalai Lama. It was good to hear that the atmosphere around him is so similar to what it's like to be with Amma. It's always nice to hear stories were things just seem to fall into place in such a way as to allow a person to be in the presence of a Master. It was also delightful to read your story about how you got to know about Amma and got to visit Her for the first time. We make all our plans to go and see Her, and then some obstacle emerges and we feel disappointed. Then, just as suddenly something wonderful happens and the obstacle is removed. It's the way Amma plays with us. And also it's the way She lets us know that She's always taking care of us. I think you can be pretty certain that Amma will make sure that you'll able to get to see Her and bring your son. I don't know how old he is, but Amma just loves children and children love Her. By the way, your English came across just fine. You expressed yourself beautifully and with wonderful devotion.
