I was so surprised, but when I > suddenly realized > what she was saying, I burst out laughing. She > laughed too, and said, > 'Laughter should always burst out of you just like > now.' It's so funny you mention this, Nandu.... I remember having posted not so long ago that during my darshan in Boston, Amma said what sounded to me like "my daughter my daughter". Then many of you suggested alternate translations that all sounded so beautiful..... "mudkutti" and "my pearl" etc..... yet the more I sit with this the more I hear Her voice clearly in my ear saying... "my daughter my daughter". It was very clear! So much so that at the time I thought, "Wow! She's calling me Her daughter!" Now, granted, my hair is a bit long but She who knows All would know who I am biologically, right? My only thought would be that, being that I am a gay child of Amma, and that my partner went for darshan just before me, that She was identifying me as the "wife" of the couple, if there could be such a thing. In our pairing, I've often thought that Scott is the more "male" of the two of us, at least spiritually speaking. Bhakti seems to come a little more easily to me than to him.... he's more the "jnani yoga" type. I'm the one that's more easily moved to tears of devotion.... he's more cerebral. In any case, my partner and I did not approach Amma jointly as a couple for darshan because I honestly did not know what the "protocol" was for a same-sex couple. We approached Her as two singles, though inwardly I knew She would know we were a couple. Was this maybe her way of saying She knew? She called him "mone mone".... (which is what She called me two days prior at the RI Devi Bhava which I went to alone). This devotee of the Divine Mother finds great joy in being called a "daughter", so I'm not fussing over it, but somehow the question has been very much with me since the darshan, and I wanted to share it with my brothers and sisters. Ahhh, the impenetrable mystery of Mother! JAI MA!!!
