Guest guest
Dear friends, Last week I went to the closing program of my daughter's Girl Scout camp in the Berkeley, Ca. hills. As a new Cadette (Jr. High level) scout she was taught a lot of service and leadership skills. I was pleased that a lot of what she learned fit so well with Amma's teachings. During the program her unit sang, "On my Honor" a contemporary Girl Scout song that I had never heard before. (I only know the old ones.) I was especially moved by one verse that I want to share with you all: "People don't need to know my name. If I've done any harm then I'm to blame. If I've helped another then I've helped me and I've opened up my eyes to see." Also the chorus goes: "On my honor I will try. There's a duty to be done and I say, "Aye." There's a reason here for a reason Above. My honor is to try and my duty is to love." I was also moved by an article that appeared in the Sunday Oakland Tribune's "USA Weekend" section. It's the kickoff article for a series on "making a difference" and was written by Ms. Ann Curry, the woman who interviewed Amma on the Today show. It's clear to me after reading this article how is was that it was no coincidence that she did the interview and received Amma's darshan. Here's the link if you want to read it: http://www.usaweekend.com/diffday/2001_articles/010805curry.html In Amma's Love and service, Amalia
