Om Namah Shivaya,

You may remember I asked a question some time ago whether "just wars" existed

any longer, etc. I thought as a follow-up you might like to read this quote

I received from another Amma devotee. I don't have the book so I can't look

it up myself...but Amma ALWAYS sends the answers!

Usha

----

When a challenge confronts the nation you must fight for the good of the

country, if it is a good cause, but with detachment. In order to fight

without attachment, the battle must be waged not against the evil-doer but

against the evil. The fighting is not against an egotistic person in the

opposite army but against the ego,

the destructive force.

....If some country or leader poses a threat to a country or to the world,

threatening all nations and all of humanity, you may fight, but fight with

love. If you go to war, fight with love for humanity; fight against evil and

against unrighteousness. Fight with detachment, for real love arises from

detachment.

.... It (the battle) becomes selfless service extended toward the entire human

race out of love and compassion.

Beloved Usha:

Thank you so much for sending this quote. A peace enveloped me as I read this.

Br. Dayamrita gave Satsang yesterday at the MA Center on Amma's birthday. He

said that our dharma as Amma's children right now is to pray for peace as She

has instructed us. He said it is the inner terrorists of our negative

thoughts that we need to fight.
