Guest guest
Does anyone know if Amma met the Swami S.......(noted in previous post) and what that was about, if anything? Also, they note he was born in America; was he of Indian origin or was he non-Hindu? does anyone know? I would be surprised and impressed if he were not of Hindu origins and yet attained such respect within the Hindu community. That is not easy to do, if it is the case, which from the photos appears he is not of Indian parentage. I wonder if his books are recommended for us to read or not, as I have never heard of anyone within Amma's fold mention him even once in passing. They say that he wrote and interpreted based upon his own experience, which might be good or bad, depending on the validity and comprehensibility of his experience. So, does anyone know the attitude of Amma/Ammas Swamis to the late American Swami S......? Avram

Namaste dear Avram.... if you haven't heard about Sri Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami by now, it's not because he hasn't been mentioned or talked about, dear brother...i had been the original person to post the notice on the other Amma list about the Swamiji's imminent departure, back in early October, when i first got the news from the Hinduism today people.... i have often been posting some of the articles from his Lessons in Saivite Hinduism, which anyone may to for free from the organisation...email lessons...they are ENTIRELY congruent with Amma's teachings...He had a very high regard for Ammachi...She often appeared in his magazine...Hinduism Today...one of the BEST all round magazines for the worldwide Hindu diaspora...His lessons are often very nicely appropriate to the days problems...just as Ammachi's books are...and they are just as valid....an amplification of Mother's teachings i would suggest. just as we see Her to be an Avatar of Divine Mother, it is true that some have seen Sri Swamiji to have been an incarnation of the Lord Siva...he was named the "Hanuman" of today by another Great soul...don't remember who...Amma recommended his "Loving Ganesha" Book most heartily.... Gurudeva (as he was known by one and all who met him) felt such a high regard for Ammachi, that he nominated Her Hindu of the year for the year 1993...and had a whole big article about Her...Again he had more articles and the VERY month that i met Amma the first time, June 1995, Sri Swamiji did a BIG article with a great picture...the altar picture...on the FRONT page of his magazine...which was then in a newspaper format....now it is in a typical magazine format...and if you are interested in your Hindu brothers and sisters around the world..i can recommend no better and cheaper magazine for you....as far as the Sanatana Dharma is concerned ALL are Hindus...no matter what their faith...All are invited into the fold....only we who were born in other faiths do not see ourselves as part of the Sanatana Dharma...to Hindus of the deeper mystical sort, ALL of the creation is Hindu....or All creation with all the beings are part of the Sanatana Dharma....even Christians, Islamics and Jews are included in the Sanatana Dharma...only THEY don't think so....ask a Hindu and you will find that ALL are included. Sri Satguru Swamiji was born an American, (and of "non" Hindu birth origin...but undoubtedly very Hindu past lives), dear brother...a very TALL and FAIR American....but was very early drawn to his ancient faith of Siddhanta Saivism...he was the DESIGNATED satguru of his lineage...and was named so by his GURU Himself...just as he has named his own successor...another American (it looks like) named Bodhinatha Veylaniswami.... He is the REAL thing ...and his courage in the way he took his exit from this world stage deserves nothing but the highest praise...He is a living (and dying) example for all of us...just as AMMA Herself is such an example...Just because someone comes from the States does not prevent him/her from being a very High spiritual being dear brother...i do not see why you should be so surprised that one such as He was a Mahatma...There is NO doubt if you really check him out further....we may not always like the way he expresses himself...or the strictness of the teachings, but in all humility dear brother, i bow millions of times....koti koti pranams to that Great Soul Sri Sivaya Subramunyaswamiji Who has just now chosen to leave this plane... He most certainly HAS met Ammachi...they were both elected to be two of the three Presidents of the Hindu faith representing almost a billion people...at the Parliament of World Religions....again they both attended the UN Millenium Summit of the religious leaders...and both addressed the assembly of religious...and i would be surprised if they did not meet...even if not on the worldly level, i am sure that they are both well aware of each other's missions and support each other totally on the inner levels...if you were to ask Amma...i am sure that She would recommend him as a very great Soul...and his teachings are indeed valuable to anyone aspiring to understand the faith to which we have been drawn...(or even been brought up in...he was very thorough in his detailed teachings...many many books)...and his teachings correspond to the traditional Saivite Dharma as far as i can tell from my limited knowledge...he may use "modern" words for some things...trying to explain the different "forces"...and so on..but his teachings are considered WORLD WIDE to be the REAL THING...he is taught in universities....Hindus in Fiji and now all over the world can teach their children about their ancient faith with the aid of Swamiji's lessons...a Hindu "catechism" ...he was VERY thorough as i said...and i don't think you would find a negative comment about him ANYWHERE from ANYONE....yours is the first, even questioning, i've heard!!! i would humbly suggest that Amma's Swamijis, just like myself, would most humbly pranam in reverence and Divine Love to that Great Soul known as Sri SatGuru Sivaya Subramuniyaswamiji!! that is my humble offering upon the subject.... In Amma's Divine Love, and in Her Service as ever, your own self, visvanathan Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!
Guest guest
While some might disagree with what I am about to say well...I know Amma is ok with this for me. Amma is my guru ,she is my Mother. Gurudeva to me was like a spiritual father. It was something I struggled with for awhile but realized this was the way of my life and path. I fell so lucky to have both. His books are wonderful and like Visvanathan said they go with Amma's teaching perfectly. He was a wonderful man and we are lucky he was on the planet in my humble opinion. He has done so much for Hinduism in the western world. You can learn more about him and see the funeral procession at the below link. http://www.gurudeva.org/ In Amma's Love, Shelly
