Hello all,

Last nite's (or should i say this morning's) Devi Bhava was just amazing. And

there were so many new folks, who were coming to see Amma for the first time--

the word is really getting out! As always, I really loved the diversity of

people that she brings together, all ages, colors, and sizes.

I did have a bhajan question-- towards the end, Big Swami did one that had a

chorus that went something like 'lay lay, lay lay lay lo', a very fast tempo.

Can anyone tell me the name ?

Om Namah Shivaya ...

I'm so glad to find this email list... Looking forward to connecting

with all of you.

Just returning to the rest of the world after Amma's programs in San

Ramon. I live about 45 minutes from the ashram, quite a blessing.

Devi Bhava was, of course, magnificent! Amma wore a crimson-colored

sari that was radiant (OK, has she ever worn anything that WASN'T

radiant???). Over 2900 people! We didn't finish til 9:15, and there

weren't even any weddings! And it seemed to me that the singing was

even better than usual, especially at the end. There was a song I

hadn't heard before that Big Swami sang, that was absolutely

amazing. It had the dotydotydoty words (oh, I don't know what they

are!) that Amma seems to chant in some people's ears. The chorus was

this rousing round of it, everyone was jumping and ecstatic. Does

anyone know what I'm talking about, and what song this is, and if

it's on any recording? I couldn't believe how fast Swami was singing!

It was two songs before Amma Amma Taye.

Anyways, it was an interesting retreat - many challenges, including

pouring rain, and taking down the walls to the rooms at the back of

the temple! Who else was there? I'd love to hear your experiences.

And I'm looking forward to hearing how Ann Arbor goes.

Blessings,

Achintya

Namah Shivaya, Achintya,

Where do you live? I live about an hour away from the San Ramon ashram, in

Mountain View. I think the bhajan you are talking about is "Amrta Vahini"

in Bhajanamritam Volume IV, p. 20. The refrain goes "Titti tara titti tai

ti tai taka tai tai tom, tai tai tai tai tai tai tai tai titai taka tai tai

tom, titti tara titti tai ti tai taka tai tai tom, titti tara titta tai ti

tai taka tai tai tom". I don't know if it's recorded on any tape or CD.

Namah Shivaya, Fe!

Oh, that does sound like the song! I'll have to look it up, and ask someone at

the center if there's a recording of it. If there wasn't before, maybe there

will be one soon!

Also, Fe, I like in Menlo Park! Incidentally, I'd like to gather together a

bunch of devotees from the mid to lower Penninsula (esp Mountain View to Menlo

Park areas) for an informal Satsang group... maybe leading to an official

satsang someday. Let me know if you're interested!

Hi Achintya:

Welcome to the list! Thank you for the beautiful blessing of your email.

I'm off tomorrow morning for Ann Arbor to see Her. I have felt Her presence

around me for the last two days. What a pure delight to have Amma in our

lives.

I don't think it's on any of the tapes yet. I'll double check with my son who

works with the sound system...later after he wakes up...he's in post Amma

sleep right now:>)

The verses are:

Amrita vahiniyayi-tavaniyil avatari-chamarum nayike ninne kai vanangunnen

Sruti yuktyanu-bhavangal orumichu vilayicho-ratulya sundara rupam vijayichalum

Salutations to that great leader Who has incarnated on this Earth as the

vehicle of immortality. Victory unto that incomparable and beautiful form

that is the embodiment

of reason, of experience and of all the knowledge that is contained in the

Vedas.

Mati banda makaluvan pakal iravukal ellam pata petunnavar kennum abhaya datri

atiratta karunayo tamarunita namukum paramatma swabodhatte yunartituvan

You provide solace to those who struggle day and night to be free from the

attachments of the mind. You wait with boundless compassion to awaken the

ultimate consciousness in us.

Bhava nadi tirakale katanoru-kuvanini samayamay samathare poruka ningal

kai pititchu karetuvan karuti nilpa tuntamma kantuvo namalku nanma varu-vanayi

The time has come now to cross over the waves of worldliness. If you are

smart enough, come! Don't you see that Mother is ready to hold our hands and

pull us to the shore, to bless us with prosperity?

Vrata mantra japa-mellam vrithavil akilum guru karuntan mirhi tannal phalam

nirnayam

parihasi-chalum janam pari bhavi karutu nam parama pavaniye tan aradhichalum

Even if all vows and chanting of mantras go in vain, still if the Guru's

compassionate glance is made to fall on us, it will bestow the desired ends.

Even though others may make fun of us, don't feel humiliated. Contiunue to

worship this great pure soul alone.

Tika-vutto ravitutte tiruvullam alin-ennal tikavinnay namuku pinnalani-tenta

mananam-saytakam telinutal abhimanam ningi swarupa sudhar-navatil turnu pokam

O Mother! You are of the nature of completeness. If Your heart melts then we

need not roam around the world in search of fulfillment. By meditating upon

this Truth, let us purify our hearts. Shed the feeling, "I am the body" and

we will go to the Self, rowing through the ocean of nectar.

Atu nukarnu narumbol erul alayakalum pinna-khilandam prabha purnam sinmaya

makum

anarghama matu netan kshana nreum kalayate amrita vahiniyil pukka-bhayam tetu

When we drink that imperishable nectar and awake, then the waves of darkness

will disappear and the entire universe will melt into divine light and

knowledge. Work for that which is the only thing worth striving for without

wasting even one single moment. Seek eternal refuge in the vehicle of

immortality!
