I mean, so a little feeling happens but is quickly gone; what is the long-term effect of the Darshan? so, when someone quantified it the question arose, is it cumulative? Does she take a bit of karma each time, as many say? In that case, I should get more and more of it. but, on the other hand, is it the case that She is taking a certain amount each time? Maybe it is so, that there is only so much that spiritual law allows to be taken (many say She does it when She "sniffs" you). I am surprised that so little is actually said about it by anybody. But, don't tell me that you never wonder about it; many say that they lose whatever feeling they have by the time they get on the plane back home. I still want to know where the person who said this got it from. I like your post, Lutz; you have a good degree of faith and critical intellect. Guest guest
Om Namah Shivaya, Avram... I don't know if quanitfying feelings and percentages of karma reduced is really helpful. In my experience, Amma helps those who help themselves. I think one experiences transformation to the extent that one works on themselves. As it is said, we also need the grace of the guru. The guru often gives grace according to the willingness of the devotee to work on him/herself, and the extent that they actually follow through on that work. Attachment to "feeling" the way we feel around Amma is yet another stumbling block. If we expect to feel that way all the time, we are sure to be disappointed. Life is all about change... we mustn't cling to anything, including that feeling. Does it mean she isn't with us? Of course not. The existence of the sky isn't dependent on whether it's sunny and clear or cloudy and rainy. It's our faith that determines the extent to which we feel her with us. I mean, so a little feeling happens but is quickly gone; what is the long-term effect of the Darshan? That depends on you! You might have felt for a few seconds how wonderful life can be and that love is a very important part of it you forgot. You might suddenly again feel the vibrant core of your being and find new hope to express it in life. For a few seconds your surface thoughts might be muted and you discover deep down there is peace in you. Long buried pain might come up and you cry tears of release. Or you may cry and realise that you've found the love of your life. She lets you commune a short moment with her purity and light force. It's a heart affair nothing to think and analyse much. Who cares about the quantity of karma being taken? We normal beings are hardly aware of deeper layers of consciousness. Just trust and hope for the best. So much can happen but of course you can go away after it, watch TV each evening and live your "normal" life. It is you who looses the inner realignment or heart centeredness and get lost in your reactions to the outside world. In the Darshan Amma just gave you a little taste of love and joy. Isn't it significant that so many people come from far and near just to get a short hug? To make it a continuous living presence you've to do your part. Go to India for 6 weeks, chant the Sahasranama each day, invite all your friends for prayer and bhajan every week, collect some money for Amma's countless projects and tell everybody about the miraculous Indian woman--- Then you'll have Amma's presence all the time around you and the darshan seconds will have grown into a permanent presence of Amma's divine shakti ! George Harrison said 'Everything else can wait but the search for God cannot wait, and love one another." To think about the quantity of Karma being nullified in Amma's presence will not bring you closer to your inner sanctum, your childlike divinity, your divine spark or whatever you call it . So why so much bother about such things? You wrote: >But, don't tell me that you never wonder about it; In the early days of my stay with Amma in India I used to sit 3 times a week with Amma doing Krishna and Devi Bhava. I watched her for hours and hours and hours. I saw her. I saw the effect on people and I got many, many darshans myself. From all that I can tell that she tried to make me understand what the power of love is about and where it is coming from. Isn't Love a mystery to be lived rather than a thing that can be explained?
