Benefits of Bhajan Singing

<<

Have any of you noticed benefits from singing devotional songs?

My proposal to present a paper in March 2002 on "Malayalam Songs

to the Goddess: Growing Towards Compassion" to the West Coast

Conference of the American Academy of Religion (at St. Mary's College

in Moraga) has been accepted. I received the official notice of

acceptance yesterday. It is another example of Amma's grace and a

chance to share some of our blessings. I thought it would be fun to

include what Amma's children on the internet have to say.

>>

Yes I do have that habit .. In the early morning and in the night just

before sleep I used to listen to some of the bhajan type music .. It

brings down all my fluctuating thoughts and i really feel peaceful

vibrations after that . My favourites are amma amma thaye , guruthi puja

( famous malayalam cassette about devi ) , aarthi vol ii ( famous hindi

bhajan about devi by anuradha pothuval ) and few devotional songs which

i used to listen during childhood .. When we do anything with lots of

love , it transforms us, whether it is singing , dancing , seva ,

chanting , anything .. and if it is in a group it will be a waooo ...

and i have noticed that some of the artists whether it is singers ,

dancers , painters .. any artists , if they do that with a lot of

devotion .. if they really do it from their heart , you can see a

special aura in them . may be because of its effects our old rishis

gave a spiritual devotional colour to many of the musical and dance

forms , especially in india ..

When you do research don't foget what amma told "If you read anything

for 1 minute , You should have 10 minutes time to think about it " . Let

Amma guide you for your quest for knowledge dear aikya . .. bye ..

Om Shanti

with luv
