Namaste!

Has anyone had the experience of Amma coming and

giving sadhanas in ones' dreams?

Also Amma says that the grace and the guidance of the

satguru is needed for the spiritual sadhaka to

progress. Today when it there are always 10's of

thousands of devotees around Amma always, it is really

not possible to get the guidance of the satguru (Amma)

directly, so I am wondering how members of this group

are guided by Amma.

Aum Namasivaya,

Vijay

Namah Shivaya Vijay

Let me attempt an answer to your question . It has

been my experience that when i really pray to Amma

sincerely, an answer comes. She connects to Her

thousands of children from within , as Amma is within

every one of us.

I also have to add that real prayes with deep yearning

sincerity come very rarely . So if we cannot actually

get into question line/darshan and ask Her a question

physically, the only other option is to pray sincerely

for guidance with the FAITH that She hears.

But my problem is maintaining an inner attitude

capable of such prayer but if one manages to have that

then the answer comes.

My experience and understanding is that the

"old way" of having the guru right there to

always ask questions and get guidance,

permission, and blessings from is simply not

possible except in a few circumstances.

Many stories are told of how the guru directly

blessed a disciple with Realization, but such

close contact is not really practical in

today's world, even in today's ashrams.

Today's mass crowds to see people like Amma

or SSB end up having to face the music and

do real sadhana and not rely on the physical guru.

Amma has said in one of the books, that a sadhak

should spend only a few years in close relations

with their guru, then do sadhana in solitude.

Discrimination has always helped me. I've seen

too many people go with "inner guidance" only

to serve their ego and cause themselves

unnecessary suffering or to cause further

delusion that results in going in circles

and wasting time and energy.

Om Amriteshwariye Namah

I had several (4-5 times I recall) occasions of Amma in my dream,

all teh way telling me sothing to just being playful. I recall one

very clearly about 2 years ago when Amma playfully woke me up and

started rushing out, all i could see was a white saree but i don't

know (it appears that amma wanted) I started following that lady in

white - finally I caught up with Her and she turned her face around

to give me nice blissful smile and Her Amma fragarence ...

There are few very close, but messages are beyond words.

I hope it enlightens you little more

I don't recall Amma ever appearing in my dreams, but when I go to her for

darshan, I pick up the most incredible psychic images!

When she's hugging me, Amma often whispers something in my ear. One

time, she whispered, "Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma." (Ma repeated nine

times.) I know Durga's number is 9, so I felt encouraged to persue a

sadhana of worshipping Sri Durga Ma.

The next year when I went to see Ammachi, I wondered what she would

whisper to me. I got my hug, and she whispered,

"Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma." I have to admit I was a little

disappointed that it was the same thing that she had whispered the

previous year.

And as I felt disappointment, with my head still resting on Amma's lap, I

had a clear vision of a sandy beach, with ocean waves rolling up to the

shore. A female figure (not Amma!) was running towards me on the beach,

her dark body smeared with ashes, wearing a tigerskin loincloth, her long

black hair swept up in a topknot, and carrying a trident. In other

words, a woman dressed for all the world like Lord Shiva. As she

approached me on the beach, the woman drew her trident across my neck,

beheading me, and I heard the words, "Cut the ego!"

My hand went reflexively to my throat, and I was back kneeling before

Amma, who smiled sweetly and put a dot of sandalpaste on my forehead.

And I have never been presumptuous enough to be "disappointed" in

anything Amma has whispered to me again.

This is a very interesting quote to me, as it is not the type of

thing I associate Amma with saying. Could you tell me where this

quote is printed?

It wasn't a traditional spiritual practice, but...

I was just completing an application for a Fulbright grant to go to

Kerala next September to stay in a village 3 hours from Amritapuri

and study Malayalam and Carnatic singing and collect stories of the

goddess. I had three professors lined up to write references. I'd

finished all the essays and was proofreading the form.

That night I dreamt I was in Amritapuri. Mind you, I've never been

to Amritapuri and only know it from the photos, but in my dream I

made an Amritapuri and I was there with Amma and lots and lots of

people. Even though there were lots of people, it seemed very

peaceful. We sang and sang. Then Amma got up to return to her

room. For some reason I followed her. She walked up a little

stairway to her door...maybe five steps. Before she got to the top,

she turned and looked straight into my eyes. "Focus on the

scultpure!" she said.

I was so startled at this that I woke up. Did that mean I shouldn't

apply for the Fulbright? The Fulbright was supposedly in creative

writing, definitely not sculpture. I had just started a class my

first class in ceramic sculpture and was making pieces inspired by

the devotional songs in the Bhajanamritam collection. Anyway I

decided to do the best I could to complete the Fulbright application

since I had just gotten all my professors to sign on to the idea.

I allowed myself to fully engage in the sculpture after that. It is

a form of prayer for me, if that makes any sense, especially since it

is based on the bhajans. All I can say is that I have felt Mother's

inspiration and guidance with this new (to me) art form. When people

see the pieces, they usually remark that there is something sacred

about them even before they know the story.

If you have a dream in which Mother appears to be giving you a

direction, think about whether you really want her to give you that

exact advice. If so, it may not be Amma.

Also ask yourself whether following the dream advice would hurt you

or anyone else (family members, etc.). If it would hurt anyone or

anything, I'd wait and talk it over with Amma when you see her.
