Guest guest
Namaste Sri Viswanthan! Thank you for your detailed reply. My experience with Amma is that when she is around, I am totally blissed out and just feel like crying out of joy all the time. And when is not around, I back to ground level again. I studied for several years with Subramuniya Swami(www.gurudeva.org) and he used to give me advice on specific issues that came up in meditation. Usually his advice was too deceptively simple that it did not strike me at the time. It is usually a year later that I can understand why he said that. For meditators, sometimes it is really good for someone to come and tell you what it is that you are avoiding or what is the real issue at hand. Perhaps for an advanced studend like yourself, it is possible to discern Amma in each and every living creature and to feel that Amma is talking to you through your neigbour, boss...But for poor me( I am sure there are lot of people like me), I really need someone to tell me what is it that I am not doing right. Another senior devotee(from Boston) once told that you should go and ask Amma directly what your sadhana is. And Amma herself recommeds 8 hours of meditation for those at the ashram. So if someone is not there to guide them, how will they progress. The problem is even more acute today, that there are thousands of devotees around and you can usually exchange a few words with Amma. Namaste!!! May Lord Siva and Amma protect and bless you always! Dear One......whether we realise it or NOT this is HOW Amma is guiding us day in and day out...with the words of our loved ones...with the actions going on around us...as i said Mother is ALWAYS speaking...it's just that we don't know how to listen... and unfortunately that same mind which is wanting to meditate is the one which is doubting Mother's messages when given directly to it... we don't need to meditate to see all this...we have only to think it through...it isn't a question of advancement, but rather WHO do you LOVE...or WHAT do you LOVE....where there is LOVE...there are NO questions...and where there is NO LOVE there are nothing BUT questions...the main one being...why is there no love? Spirituality is NOT about learning a bunch of meditation techniques which require some teacher to come by and give you tips on sitting up straighter...or how to concentrate the mind... Where there is LOVE....no tips are needed, cause the LOVE supplies all the answers... Mother listens to everything we say and do...and She is responding CONSTANTLY thought the everyday events we live in...it is NOT HER fault if we are unable to listen to Her messages...and it is only going to get MORE and MORE like that ...where we have to seek Mother's INNER guidance rather than Her OUTER...it is a natural progression...and now is being speeded up by so many newcomers entering the family... so we must practise the presence of the Divine daily, all day, as much as possible...it is not about meditating but about WHERE our MINDS are going...if they are always going to Mother naturally...then we ARE meditating whether we think so or not!!! but if they are Never going to Mother...then the meditation has a different "subject"...your new car...your relationship or whatever... if we ARE REALLY serious about Mother's sadhana.. then we must follow Her advice...which is Bhajans, Namas...and then meditation...after Bhajans and Namas...much of the turbidity and turbulence of the mind has settled...and now we can easily dwell on our Beloved Mother... When Amma has instructed one to try to learn the path of Divine Love...then what further instructions are needed? Love is not found in a book...or a techniques...but is rather a condition of BEING... so when we complain about Amma's lack of guidance...we should actually be asking ourselves...why can not i "receive" the contant and ongoing guidance???? and then we may more easily become humble enough to actually LISTEN to what Amma has to say.. it is true that Mother prescribes 8 hours of meditation there in Amritapuri..but SHE is THERE to guide them in this...if you REALLY want that kind of guidance, then i would suggest that you GO to Amritapuri...and receive it...also if you truly doubt what sadhana to do...i would follow the advice of that senior Boston member who said to ask Her directly.. in Mother's Divine Love, and in Her Service as ever, your own self, visvanathan Om Amrtesvaryai Namah!!!
