Guest guest
At the Ganesha Temple in Flushing, New York City, when you enter at the eastern entrance, there is a large table-altar with nine deity statues -- the Nava-grahas, or planetary devas. Saturdays at 10 AM there is a scheduled Nava-graha Puja. (Since Surya, the Sun, is ruler of the planets, this used to be perfomed on Sunday mornings. But the pujaris soon realized that almost everyone needs to propitiate the Great Malefic, Shani, Saturn, so the date was changed to Saturday mornings.) I don't recall what planetary pujas cost, but you can discuss details with the priests at the temple. Every morning as I boot up, I display the card ruling the day, and chant the associated mantra for a bit. (I must admit I have been tempted to celebrate Rahuday and Ketuday -- these shadow-planets don't have days of the week assigned to them!) Mercury is retrograde until February 8th. Wear something green every day, and remember the mantra: <Om buum Budhaya namah>. -- Len/ Kalipadma On Sun, 20 Jan 2002 21:55:52 -0000 "tomgull" <tomgull writes: > Unfortunately there's no Brahmasthanam temples > in the U.S. for people to attend planetary pujas > as you could if in India.
