Guest guest
The Times of India has been devoting a lot of ink to Amma's Hyderabad visit. More coverage than any other English Indian newspaper, at least in the online editions. Now she's off to Pune (feb. 27-Mar.1) and Bombay (march 2-5). Keval ================================= Divinity inherent in everyone: Amma TIMES NEWS NETWORK [ MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2002 1:38:52 AM ] HYDERABAD: Amidst the chanting of bhajans by thousands of devotees at Mata Amritandamayi Math in Mahindra Hills here, Mata Amrithanandamayi Devi, popularly known as Amma, blessed everyone present. Whether it be a senior bureaucrat or a beggar, she showered with her warmth and affection. Despite a busy schedule, she agreed for an interview with The Times of India on Sunday. When asked about the experience of the exalted state of her divine grace, she replied that divinity remains inherent within every individual. “When oil falls on a diamond it will loose its shine and would appear blurred, similarly human beings need to polish or remove the stain to trace their inherent divinity,” she said. It would be a result of the purvakarma that one suffers or remains ignorant of the divine self, but by developing the child-like dormant innocence from deep within, one would realise that, Amritanandamayi said. To a question about Amma’s reaction when an elderly person addresses her as “Amma”, she said it was not the age or the position of an individual but the inherent child in him that awakens to seek the blessings of a mother. Amritanandamayi said that just because a woman gives birth to a child she does not become a mother. A woman becomes a mother only when she cares and nurtures the child, Amma said. Similar is the inherent feeling to help all needy as her children and bless them, she said. Amritanandamayi added that her only desire was to see people everywhere happy, enthusiastic, harmonious and to ensure that peace prevailed everywhere. Earlier, Moorty Stapana and Prana Pratishta of the Brahmasthanam temple was performed by Mata Amritanandamayi between 7.45 am and 9.05 am during the auspicious muhoortam of Punarvasu Nakshatra and Meena Lagna on Sunday. Kalassabhisheka was also performed. All this was part of the consecration of the unique Brahmasthanam Temple at Mahindra hills. The other pujas and homas conducted on Sunday included the Mahaganapathy Homa, Pratishta Homa and Navagraha Shanti at 5 am. The Mangal Dosha Nivarana Puja was conducted at 6 pm. On Sunday the chanting of Lalita Sahasranama Archana and lamp puja was performed from 6 am to 6 pm as part of the Brahmasthanam Prana Pratishta Mahotsavam at the Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Mahindra Hills. Over 35,000 people have already been blessed by Amma. Mata Amritanandamayi also blessed the keys to 725 houses constructed for the poor under the 25,000 free housing scheme, ‘Amrita Kuteeram’, on Saturday. The keys were handed over to commercial taxes minister K Vijayrama Rao, who gave it to the beneficiaries. Sports - Coverage of the 2002 Olympic Games http://sports.
