Guest guest
or "Mumbai", if you prefer :0 Jai Ma! Keval --- http://cities.expressindia.com/fullstory.php?newsid=11370 ‘Service to the poor is a prayer to god’ Renuka Suryanarayan Mumbai, March 3: "OUR aim should be not just a flourishing and prosperous world, but a world distinguished by peace, co-operation, unity and compassion for all living beings. In this universe, it is love that binds everything together. Love is the very foundation for a beautiful and fulfiled life." Timely words of advice from Mata Amritanandamayi who will be in the city till March 5, to offer prayers for global peace and harmony. Her words of wisdom can help us, guide us, especially today, as we fight this war against civilisation. Her message to spiritual seekers is thus very simple, "Real love and devotion to God is to be compassionate towards the poor and the suffering." It is her vision which has given life to the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), a super-speciality hospital in Ernakulam, where destitute patients are provided excellent medical facilities absolutely free. The Amrita Kripa Sagar hospital, at Badlapur, near Mumbai also takes care of terminally ill cancer patients free of cost. Speaking on the importance of happiness, Mata, in one of her discourses recently, said a happy family is very important for spreading love in the world. According to her, childhood is the best time to sow the seeds of love. And for that the parents must themselves express that love and affection and respect each other. She said, "A father is just as deeply involved in raising the children as the mother. A father, too, must have patience. He too must try to recognise and admire the good qualities in his partner. Respect her for what she is.” She said, “The couple together must try to work out their problems with a positive attitude, without provoking or hurting each other with accusations." ‘‘Awareness of our own weaknesses, is the best way to remove them. For a happy family life thus, it is necessary never to use a partner’s faults as a weapon against him or her. Work together and all the problems can be sorted out positively," she said. Mata also talked about how children are influenced by the environment, they grow up in. She therefore cautioned that the parents should be careful for the sake of the children. ‘‘Be careful about what you say. Be careful about what you do, because each word that you utter and each deed you perform creates a deep impression in your child’s mind. Creating fear and respect in order to teach obedience cannot be called disciplining, which is what we like to call it. True, constructive disciplining takes place when love is allowed to blossom. If love is absent, any reverence or respect will be based on fear,’’ she said. The Mata will be present on March 3-5 at the Brahmasthana Mahotsavam at Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Nerul (W), Navi Mumbai . Pravachan, bhajan, darshan, have been organised everyday at 12.00 noon. Also Dosha Nivarana poojas, March 4, and March 5 and Devi Bhava Darshan, March 5 7.30 pm onwards.
