Guest guest Posted March 10, 2002 Report Share Posted March 10, 2002 Three Bhuj villages get new lease of life TIMES NEWS NETWORK [ MONDAY, MARCH 11, 2002 12:22:29 AM ] BHUJ: Last year's earthquake has become a boon, at least, for the people of Dhagala, Mokhana and Modser villages of Bhuj taluka. Situated amidst the hilly areas off Bhuj-Bhachau via Dudhai village, about 35 km from Bhuj, the internationally renowned Mata Amrutanandamayi Math of Kerala has adopted all the three villages and over nine hundred houses, designed by structural engineers from IIT. The houses have almost been completed within just nine months. These houses are completely earthquake resistant and the element of social engineering has also been taken care of, while allocating the houses said Swami Sada Shiv Chaitanya. A hospital is already operational and two doctors have been posted there. As many as eight small ponds have been constructed to maintain the ecological balance in the area. "Flamingos have arrived for the first time in the area", said Swami Abhya Amruta Chaitanya at Dagala village, which has been completely relocated. Japanese students, who have come to study earthquake resistant construction, were also seen working at the site. Amma has decided to visit Daghala on Sunday, to dedicate houses and other infrastructural facilities to the villagers. Union home minister LK Advani, state Governor Sundersinh Bhandari and Chief Minister Narendra Modi will also attend the function.
