Guest guest
Arguments can be made for Amma advocating and not advocating relationships, dating, marriage, etc. The Sadhana Soulmates was also created to bring together people for practical reasons, such as co-habitation of sadhaks. Amma has told stories that demonstrate liberation by devotion between lovers, and yet has told jokes such as the one about a man without a woman is incomplete, but once he gets married he's finished... Over the years, I've seen Amma ignore a request for Her to bless a relationship, seen Her bless a relationship only to see it fail because of neglect of the devotee spouse (this is common in other religions as well, in which one person of the couple is more into sadhana than the other), and my oh my... I think I've even seen Amma perform wedding ceremonies at the end of Devi Bhava, so I don't think one could say that she is against relationships and I don't think it was wise for MAC to reject the advertisement without sufficient explanation considering the other ads are not screened and the whole purpose is for fundraising. I did not want to advertise the soulmates group as any kind of Amma/MAC endorsed group to keep it from appearing as a cult that might scare away non-devotees, non-hindus, and might only attract shallow minded devotees who only accept Amma-kosher activities in their lives, at least on the surface. Either way, my co-moderator Stephen plans to ask for Amma's blessing for the group this summer. My bets are that she'll ignore the request. If she says it's not a good idea, obviously I'll shut it down, however, it may end up in a complete blessing which means serving up the humble pie to a few folks. Guest guest
---> Curious to know what ever became of the Sadhana Soulmates... I was hoping there was something like this around... - Vishvesh Ammachi, "tomgull" <tomgull@m...> wrote: > Arguments can be made for Amma advocating and not > advocating relationships, dating, marriage, etc. > The Sadhana Soulmates was also created > to bring together people for practical reasons, such > as co-habitation of sadhaks.
