Thank you both for thinking to inform us all, I just got a horrible computer

virus. A junk email advertising homeowner loans etc. said "we apologize if

you've received this in error click here to be removed from our list" and

like a dodo I did! A little green cartoon man in a window popped open and

replaced my cursor. Then windows of gross pornographic sites popped open and

I couldn't close them. I had to reboot my computer, and when I started the

computer again my home page was changed to "www.zappo.com" and every time I

opened a program or window, the porno windows opened again. I had to have a

professional remove this from my comp. Norton didn't protect my computer with

this one! Beware of those junk emails, "delete" is your friend!

Virus alert!

 

To all recipients on my address list:

 

Dear All,

This had gotten into my system. The instructions are easy to follow so

please do so and zap it from your machine.

I received a warning about this virus and yes it was in my system so may

also be in yours as you are in my address book.

The name of this virus is jdbgmgr.exe and is sent automatically by the

messenger and by the address book. The virus is not detected by McAfee

or Norton and it stays quiet for 14 days before damaging the system. The

virus can be cleaned before it deletes the files from your system. In

order to eliminate it, it is necessary to take the following steps :

 

1 Go to start, click "search"

 

2 In the files or folders option write the name jdbgmgr.exe

 

3 Be sure that you are searching in the drive "C"

 

4 Click "find now"

 

5 If the virus is there ( it has a little bear-like icon with the name

of

 

jdbgmgr.exe ) DO NOT OPEN IT FOR ANY REASON

 

6 Right click and delete it (it will go to the recycle bin)

 

7 Go to the recycle bin and delete it or empty the recycle bin

 

IF YOU FIND THE VIRUS IN YOUR SYSTEM SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ALL OF YOUR

 

CONTACTS LOCATED IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK BEFORE IT CAN CAUSE ANY DAMAGE

Namah Shivaya Chandrika,

 

I know you meant well, but after finding the file in my

computer and right-clicking on it for the Properties,

it shows that it's a Java debugging program, and so I

did some more checking on MacAfee's site about virus

hoaxes. Here's the page about the one you've mentioned:
