Guest guest
Namaste all, I apologize in advance if this is not the right place for my query. Though I do not consider myself a devotee of Ammachi, I do have great respect for her, have read some of her teachings, and so on. I do follow a Hindu path, but again, I do not consider myself a devotee of any particular guru. I have felt close to Lakshmi since she came to me in a vision some two years ago, and since then my life has completely changed. Three weeks ago, I was writing an email to a close friend (my brain was very distracted with thoughts of what I was going to do after finishing up the email) and signed: Love, Padma. My given name is Erica, not Padma. I was taken aback by this. I told a couple of friends and since then, they've been calling me Padma. Last Thursday night, I had a dream about Amma. I can't remember specifics, but I know that I had my head down on the ground, prostrating in front of her. I lifted my head up and saw her feet, and my eyes moved upwards and I saw her. She muttered "Padma, Padma, Padma" and applied a large tilak to my forehead. I don't remember her hands being on my face, but I remember it was she that applied it. My beloved boyfriend was also next to me, though she did not say anything to him that I can remember. She smiled and then I woke up. I had a lot of energy, and actually ended up arriving at work an hour early (a rarity for me)! My question is, what do you all think of this? Is there some sort of significance, or was it just a dream? Any input is greatly appreciated. With love, Erica - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup. Guest guest
Dear Erica/Padma Padma means a lotus- and it also a name for Mother Lakshmi! Also as you know, Sri Lakshmi is depicted as seated on a lotus and holding lotuses... I think Amma blessed you by giving you the name that is also a name of your beloved deity. Also, Amma is not different from Mother Lakshmi.- incidentally 'AMRITA' is also a name for Mother Lakshmi!! In the 108 names for Ma Lakshmi , both Padma and Amrita appear... Amma's name as you know starts with 'amrita'... By the way, last year there was a person who talked about her vision of Ma Lakshmi in the san ramon program "garland of gratitude' during Amma's birthday. was that you ? Guest guest
Dear Bala, Thank you for the mail. I realize that Mother Lakshmi is mostly seated on lotuses and so on, which is one of the reasons I was so taken aback by my closing to the email! Pardon my ignorace here, but when you say Amma is not different from Lakshmi, what do you mean? I'd appreciate if you'd clarify for me, so I can understand. It was not me at San Ramon last year. I've never been to any of Amma's programs. With love, Padma - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.
Guest guest
Dear Padma It was not just a dream, it sounds as Amma's blessing and transmission of her spiritual energy to you in a dream. So it is real, just happens on subtler then physical, astral level. Jai Ma. Guest guest
Dear Erica/Padma, When I say Amma is not different from Mother Lakshmi, i allude to my personal faith that Amma is a manifestation of the Divine Mother. Maybe you will feel the same way if you get to meet Ammachi...but in any case, i am sure that the dream that Amma gave you was a blessing and the name 'Padma' is very significant as you are a worshipper of Mother Lakshmi. Last year in San Ramon, there was a person who told her story during a program there- she said that she was a worshipper of Mother Lakshmi , and would do puja every friday. One day she went out to her backyard and suddenly had a vision of Mother Lakshmi- at least she felt it was Lakshmi. Later on when she met Amma, she felt that Amma was the person who came to her in a vision and that her beloved deity lived in Amma. But all these are, of course, subjective experiences , and your experience may be different . bala > > Pardon my ignorace here, but when you say Amma is > not > different from Lakshmi, what do you mean?
