I think it all comes down to your karma and latent desires. For example, since being attracted to the opposite sex since the 1st grade, I've always wanted a normal life (relationship, house, 2.5 kids, dog), but my severe planetary afflictions througout my life contra-indicate this (money troubles, constant change in life, etc.). Although anything is possible with God's or Guru's Grace. Born under a Rahu influence with Ketu as my ascendant, renunciation is not really a choice. It's like being violently shaken awake whether you like it or not. Incidently, my attraction to dogs and the healing effect of petting them, I've found to be an actual remedy for Ketu afflictions. I don't have the exact Bible quote, but I remember in a movie about St. Francis that one of his early disciples couldn't give up the desire for the opposite sex and quoted something about Jesus saying it was better for that kind of person to marry.
