So what is the story on Revelations? It's a very cool place to hang out. Of course I immediately felt at home there rather than the more uptight Health and Wholeness store. But the city seems to thrive on the dichotomy between the two, and the native Christians make up the third side of the triangle. I went into the Grace Books and More (Christian) store to look for some bluegrass Gospel CDs (my latest bhakti passion), and of course I overheard the store manager talking to a customer about the bad vibrations in the town due to the presence of all the Eastern religious types! LOL! The religious politics in that town is just overwhelming. Still, as a student of religion who loves the anthropological approach to research, I just ate it all up-- buying biographies about C.S. Lewis' conversion, surfing the web at Revelations Books for anti-TM web sites, circumambulating the Golden Dome while chanting God's name, meeting Amma disciples at Indian vegetarian restaurants. There's never a dull religious moment in that town! Have you ever checked out that little Unity Church just outside of town? A charming little church built in the late 1880s. I went to two services and enjoyed it very much. Very new agey. Tonight I went to Guru Purnima celebrations with Madison's Ammachi community. Very nice puja except when one of the photos of Amma accidentally fell against a candle and caught on fire! I thought she was supposed to burn OUR egos! My favorite part was singing the bhajan "Shakti De, Bhakti De." A fabulous song. ==-- Jai Ma--== Nick
Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, Whew! So glad you enjoyed the satsang, dear Nick. Was wondering what you thought after reading your posts about the mind set wars. As for the burning photo, Rasya said that was a sure sign the householder's karma was being burned away. So not to worry.... Glad you made it. Am really enjoying your posts. Jai Ma! Aum Amriteshvaryai Namah
