Guest guest
Hello, I just read in one of the posts that TM send Amma letter asking Her not to come , and that they would warn students not to attend Amma's meetings.. First of all I am not familiar with TM, just checked the website they have , it just sounds weird , why do they object so much , is it because they like to charge for enlightment and Amma does not ? regards, Joanna S Health - Feel better, live better http://health. Guest guest
Well, it¹s a long story. I¹m very familiar with TM, having been practicing it regularly since 1968, and having become a teacher of it in 1970, and having taught over 1000 people to practice it. A fundamental concept that is deeply ingrained in TM teachers¹ thinking is that Maharishi has rediscovered the most effective, natural way to meditate and that all other forms of meditation are less effective or less natural. They are also taught that this technique has been periodically lost throughout the ages and then eventually revived each time by a great master such as Shankara or Maharishi. Teachers are strongly admonished and even sign agreement forms promising to safeguard the purity of the teaching so that it won¹t be lost again any time soon. Many TM teachers and administrators view all other masters, even great ones like Amma, as being inferior and as being proponents of a partial value of Vedic knowledge. That was the spirit of the letter that two MUM faculty members sent to our primary organizer of Amma¹s visit to Fairfield. She was trying to meet with the Executive VP of the university just to have a friendly chat and clarify any misunderstandings that may have arisen. All she got was the letter, which also stated that students might be ³confused² by visiting Amma. Don¹t get me wrong. I don¹t agree with this narrow-mindedness, but TM is a great thing and Maharishi has made a huge contribution to the world. Fairfield is probably the biggest, most successful spiritual community in the US. That¹s why there are so many Amma devotees here, whose presence attracted Amma to come. We think and hope she¹ll be coming regularly. If she does, it will be interesting to see how our little town evolves in the near future.
