Guest guest
I looked at the ad and it says it’s for $100-200/month per meditator. I think that would work out to approximately a 15-year program. To put it in simple terms, from what I understand, the purpose is to have a large group dedicated to contacting the transcendent, or the divinity within, thereby reducing tensions in the environment and raising consciousness. $1 billion may seem like a huge amount – it is compared to how much I have! But compared to the amounts of money being spent on fighter planes, nuclear weapons, ‘smart’ bombs, drugs, alcohol and lots of other non-evolutionary objectives at ~$150/month/person it’s peanuts! If there are people who are willing to donate their money to this project, it’s their right; I guess they believe that if there are people, young men or old women or whoever, willing to dedicate themselves to this project, they at least want to give it a try. The people I know who are supporting this are very sincere, dedicated and want to do what they can to make this world better. They are willing to donate their time and/or money to tap into the divine nature that we all have within us, to bring it out into this troubled world at this critical time. Their personal experiences gained through the practice of TM make this project seem feasible to them. But if someone thinks it’s foolish, they don’t have to bother with it! They can keep their money or spend it on whatever's important to them! Of course we all are obviously paying for the increases in our government’s already gargantuan defense spending through our taxes whether we like it or not. And thus far US policies have proven so effective that they naturally continue to win over the hearts and minds of ever-increasing numbers of people throughout the world, allowing us all to feel so much safer and optimistic about our future and that of our children! Please forgive me for that bit of sarcasm! ------ I AM SORRRY BUT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS STATEMENT: 1 BILLION $ TO ENGAGE 40,000 YOUNG MEN FROM TRADITIONAL VEDIC FAMILIES TO ESTABLISH AN ARMY OF MEDITATORS FOR WORLD PEACE, I MEAN THIS SOUNDS SURREALISTIC. WHAT YOU NEED MAYBE IS BILLION HEARTS AND PRAYERS ARE FREE, ANOTHER MONEY MAKING TIP FOR THOSE PHONEY NEW AGE ORGANIZATIONS. ===== Virginia _____________ Messenger Nueva versión: Webcam, voz, y mucho más ¡Gratis! Guest guest
One thing about this billion dollar thing, as I understand it, is that it¹s to be set up as an endowment, so that the group of pundits can be maintained perpetually. > Virginia Cook <muyilusionada > Ammachi > Sat, 3 Aug 2002 03:23:12 +0200 (CEST) > Ammachi > World Peace Endowment Fund > > > I looked at the ad and it says it’s for $100-200/month per meditator. Guest guest
World Peace Endowment Fund: It is all a matter of perspectives and we must learn to respect other points of view that are non-harmful. We are all seeking/evolving, and to quote Maya Angelou "As you know better, you do better." Until we meet Lord Shiva and truly "know better" we can only do our best and let Durga Mata the handle rest. For the TMers who follow Amma on this list, I wonder, who is the Guru, Maharishi or Ammachi? I peaceably in the spirit of understanding, request your feelings about this. I peaceably in the spirit of understanding, request > your feelings about this. Good question. I think you¹d have to ask each person individually. Many begin seeing Amma out of curiosity or because it¹s nice to get the darshan of a saint. And then of course they get their socks knocked off. Very few people in the TM Movement have seen Maharishi since the 1980¹s and many have never seen him. Amma has said things such as ³Maharishi is their guru but they can¹t see him so I give them darshan² and ³Think of Maharishi as your father and me as your mother there¹s no conflict.² And though it¹s hard to get a comment out of Maharishi on the issue, in the early days he often encouraged his followers to visit saints and lauded the benefits of doing so. Regarding Ammachi, he told one boy who¹s wealthy father enabled him to have access to Maharishi but who¹s remarried mother was an Amma devotee, ³No harm can come from seeing a saint. There are many flowers in the garden of God. You can enjoy all their fragrances.² (That¹s a rough paraphrase.) Back to your question. Many TMers stay aligned with Maharishi in their hearts and lives and see Amma occasionally. Others end up on the fence for years and go through a big struggle. Others become very eclectic and love all the saints. But many have totally shifted their focus to Amma and while remaining grateful to Maharishi for everything he¹s given them, now consider Amma to be their guru. Still, TM is a very powerful and profound technique and it¹s not uncommon to find people in all these classifications still practicing it. I know people who live and Amritapuri and travel with Amma on all her tours who still practice Maharishi¹s techniques for their sadhana. Maybe that will change when Amma¹s 9-step program comes out. I hope that answers your question but feel free to ask more.
