If Amma showed any disapproval, it could have been a show as part of a test. Remember that Gayatri has been in Her service a long time. There's plenty of stories from Gayatri in the earlier Immortal Bliss issues. Some of them used to be available online at Ammachi.org, but I'm not sure now. When Gayatri left, I heard from my locals that she had written a sort of open-letter to explain things, and that it was available to anyone who asked for it (my a local person). I never did because I knew that if someone who was with Amma for so long really felt the need to take a break, then I trusted her judgment and it really wasn't any of my business. Anyone who's "really" done prolonged, intense sadhana knows that when your kundalini stays active and you're constantly processing karma through the body (kriyas), burning out past sins and the tamasic parts of your mind, leading an active life is next to impossible. Your body simply needs much more rest than normal and you become sensitive to various things to various degrees at various times. I remember this one local devotee who criticized Gayatri and doesn't even know her. One time this person was going on and on about how it was such a bad thing to leave her guru, and breaking vows, etc. Imagine that, a long-time sadhak gossipping and criticizing someone right at a satsang meeting... tom

Guest guest
I would also be interested in reading this letter, since there's been so much rumour about what happened, and I'd like to hear Gayatri's explanation.
