Dear All,

As Bala has said, Amma was very, very sad when

her longtime attendant left. I was in India in

Dec. 99 - Jan. 00, and it was very, very evident.

But I think it's important to focus on our own

connection with Amma, rather than others'.

Was anyone else at the LA

retreat this year when a question was asked about

this? The question (from someone in a position

to know) went like this: "I've noticed that those

who leave Amma tend to project their own psychological

issues onto Her. I'm wondering how much

psychological awareness has to do with spiritual

awareness?" Mother did not answer this question

with regards to psychological awareness, but said

that devotees should be like a horse with blinders

on, looking only at the Guru, not at others.

I know everyone is curious, but as Mother said in

a recent interview (the one on Rediff.com),

some days people will call you

a god and then later turn around and call you a

devil. Even if those who leave Amma say bad things

about Her, the truth of our relationship with

Her is only in our hearts.

I appreciate everyone else's comments, and my

comments are only my thoughts and not intended

to discredit anyone else's experiences or thoughts.

Dear all,

So much has been said about the subject but there is no one

answer.

We all come to Amma with one thing in mind. That is to learn

about

spirituality. Here the main thought in the back of my mind is

that if

someone so close to Amma decided to "leave Amma", then we have

to know the reason. Why? because to many, she is so close to Amma

and literally is already a part of Amma (at least in the physical

plane).

Maybe that is also the reason why Amma is so "sad" according to

some

who posted here.

Yes we can (just) focus on Amma, but everytime one read the books

and the name appears and it strike a cord, and the question pops

up

in the back of the mind. Why did she had to leave?

So was it her (free) will or Amma's Will?

To me it looks like her (free) will, but could Amma has prevented

it? Yes we

all know Amma could but why didn't she? Maybe it is a lesson for

all of us?

Amma is there for all of us but would not act against our will?

Or for her its

a special case? But then it may all be Amma's Will. Who knows? On

the

surface it looks like her decision "to leave" Amma. But then

again we knows

that nothing happens without Amma's Will and that it may be

Amma's Leela.

You have to be beside Amma, or to meditate and pray to Amma and

all the

doubts will vanish like thin air.

Amma Bless,

I believe it was during the Rhode Island retreat that Swamiji spoke a

little bit about being close to Amma. Of course, my memory fails me

here and someone else may be able to come in and correct my errors.

It was during one of his morning classes and Swamiji was saying that

sometimes people get an opportunity to work closely with Amma and

then, all of a sudden one day they're gone. So people ask, "If this

could happen to someone so close to Amma, then what hope is there for

me?" Swamiji went on to say, "The answer is, they were never close!"

It's an interesting phenomona. What could this mean exactly? What

does it really mean to be close to Amma? I think there are lots of

illusions and maya around Amma. One must learn to digest them well

before one can get really deep meditation. One must digest them and

become subtle enough to go, you could say, from individuality to

universality. It's easy to get caught up with this. I think it is

really a gift from Amma to be able to work physically close to her,

it is a real opportunity, but this isn't necessarily enough. I think

there are many who are very, very close to Amma who don't get to

spend much time around her physically. It is often painful to be in

this situation, but this pain can be transformed into a kind of

ecstasy...it is a recipe for ecstasy in a way.

Anyway, does anyone else recall Swamiji's comments on this subject?
