Guest guest
I also agree that it would be best to return to topic. Not that all these other topics are unworthy of interest (I find them interesting, too), but that this group is for the discussion and sharing of Amma experiences and learning about Amma. I, for one, would like to keep it that way. There are many other lists out there on that discuss world problems, religions, ethical issues, politics, etc. So if you'd like to discuss those, you can also sign up to be on one of those lists. Let's keep this space just for Amma. Thanks for listening. Blessings, Achintya

"sharing of Amma experiences and learning about Amma" is what I have been trying to do. However, it seems that for some Amma is just the Hindu woman that dresses in white, hugs people and some call GURU. I see Amma reflected in everything. good, bad, ugly, beautiful, saints and sinners. > I, for one, would like to keep it that way. > There are many other lists out there on > that discuss world problems, religions, ethical > issues, politics, etc. But they dont include Ammas devotees, and I wanted to see how they think It is clear that we all have different perspectives of what Amma is. Just like in the sages and the elephants story. > So if you'd like to discuss > those, you can also sign up to be on one of those > lists. Let's keep this space just for Amma. It looks like is best that I leave this group. It is clear that this is not a list to discuss openly ideas, fears, doubts, frustrations, or even ask for help. I do not need the feed back of a fanatic, i need the feedback of people that can use not only theirs hearts, but also their reasoning. Is this is what Amma creates? People that only wants to see their own ideas and not be challenge in their views. If this is so, then I am in the wrong place. Since I can not share what I have learned with her here. However, the experience that I have from 10 years of seeing Amma is the opposite. She is open, and ready to accept us all, the way we are. She herself, is very untraditional and questioned some of the most unfair traditions of India. Just for the record, I do not consider myself a devotee, since i do not form part of Amma's organization anymore. And to be honest, some of the reactions here had underlined to me that I have made the correct desicion. I only see myself as a lover of Amma. I do not claim that she is anything of mine (i.e. my GURU). When I go there, I go to see a loved friend. And we share precious moments together. Who decides what is on topic and what is off topic? > > I see Amma reflected in everything. good, bad, ugly, > beautiful, saints and sinners. > Yes, Rastanga. I agree. The world is an experience of dualities, which, of course, we must transcend. But a knower/seeker of truth must not be afraid of the shadow side of things either, and if someone has a sincere question regarding this, I don't see why this is necessarily off topic. Things are not always sunny. If we just want to discuss sweet and frilly topics such as the latest bhajan or a sweet hug from Amma, that's fine too. But a great being once told me, "If you want to know the Godhead, you must digest the poison." > But they dont include Ammas devotees, and I wanted to see > how they think > > It looks like is best that I leave this group. No, don't! I really enjoy your perspective. > Is this is what Amma creates? People that only > wants to see their own ideas and not be challenge > in their views. Yeah, Amma always says she sees not fault with any of her children. > Just for the record, I do not consider myself a devotee, > since i do not form part of Amma's organization anymore. I don't think being a devotee necessarily means being a part of Amma's organization. We all relate to Amma differenly in our own uniqueness. Didn't Swami Amritananda tell the story of Amma's devotee meditating in a Himalayan cave without even having her physical darshan. > I only see myself as a lover of Amma. Just build on that relationship...don't worry about anything else. L

While you certainly got your share of brickbats for your questions about Gayathri, you also got encouragement and bouquets from others for candor and a spirit of enquiry. Some like only frilly topics, some like to look under the rocks. The moderator's comment, I gathered, was more towards discouraging discussion of world problems in general, unless they were tied to Amma, the woman in white. Simply as a means to make discussions more focused and less rambling, perhaps. The Gayathri discussion was not vetoed by him, as far as I could see. I think you are correct to point this out. Is also my natural reaction to (to bail out) try to avoid conflict. Is not my intention to create havoc, however, this is exctly what happens sometimes when I write or speak. > The moderator's comment, I gathered, was more > towards discouraging discussion of world problems in general, Is not so much the moderator's comment, is the perception that some seem to have, that i post just to create disharmony. I have to respect their ways, regardless of what i think. This is why i would not want to post, if most feel unconfortable with what i post. Thanks to all that have responded and to thouse that remained silent. They all have something to tech me. There has been some very beautiful thoughts posted here.I will take this spot to say thanks to these people (they know who they are). I like a lot the one of the Lotus flower. This is how I expericence this jorney. We are all in the same boat. We will all reach our goal together, as children of Amma, that we are. Guest guest
I support a return to topic. Asking for Amma's devotees' opinions about world events, etc. is opening too broad a discussion. That's because her devotees are extremely diverse, so it's the same as asking spiritually-minded people in general about their views. This is why someone recommended taking some of the topics elsewhere where they're appropriate. Conflicts that bring about clarity are fine. Some conflicts are useless because they're caused by philosophical differences which can cause a topic to circle endlessly, due to the nature of philosophical discussions (angles, definitions, etc.). Other conflicts emerge because of people who disregard or don't understand Dharma. Y'all had the chance to get Gayatri's letter and discuss it privately amongst those interested, but it would not be Dharmic to post or pick apart personal, life-changing decisions here. Seeing Amma in everything and thereby thinking it's ok to discuss anything, opens too broad a subject, making discussion a waste of energy and time. tom
