While you certainly got your share of brickbats for your questions about Gayathri, you also got encouragement and bouquets from others for candor and a spirit of enquiry. Some like only frilly topics, some like to look under the rocks. The moderator's comment, I gathered, was more towards discouraging discussion of world problems in general, unless they were tied to Amma, the woman in white. Simply as a means to make discussions more focused and less rambling, perhaps. The Gayathri discussion was not vetoed by him, as far as I could see. Vallath Nandakumar vallathn> ..... Thank you, Vallath. This was my intention in supporting the moderator's request to return to topic. I have no issue with the members of this group discussing, sharing, questioning anything about Amma or her teachings. Amma herself has said that questioning the guru is a normal part of the process of the guru-disciple relationship! The guru proves him or herself, through the relationship. So I encourage and support any kind of discussion about that. I should have been more clear. I was just concerned, as the moderator seemed to be, that we were starting to branch out into full-on discussions of world problems, and losing track of the reason this group was formed - to discuss our experiences with Amma, and things directly related to that. I know we could justify anything in the entire universe as relevant to Amma (ha! but in reality, if we were to keep any sort of focus for this group, I think we'd have to attempt to stick with what is directly relating to that being in the white sari, lest we all be carried away with out passionate feelings about many things in this universe! That is my humble opinion, freely offered to the group. Blessings, Achintya
Guest guest
Perhaps if someone occasionally feels impelled to bring up a ³world problems² type topic, they could include an action point something that people could do to help, such as donate, email a politician, etc. That way it could be turned into a seva. For instance, that women in Nigeria who¹s sentenced to be stoned to death. There must be some organization working to help her. We could have been referred to them. I agree that this thing shouldn¹t be posted frequently. There are other forums for that and email lists one can to. -- > original message: > "Vallath Nandakumar" <vallathn > > <<Rastanaga, > > You are being unfair here.
