Guest guest
We celebrate Amma's Birthday in San Ramon all day today starting at 7:30 am with the 1,000 Names of the Divine Mother. I'll be getting there at 8:30 for the pada puja, Dayamrita Swami will perform the puja and we'll sing, "Unarunaru" (BA II p.256) Swamiji says the purpose of this song is to awaken Amma within us: "Awaken, awaken, O Mother Amritanandamayi! Awaken World Mother! O Great One, wake up to awaken the world! O Supreme light, O Supreme Essence, O Thou who art subservient to supreme devotion, O Thou who resides in the temple of the heart as the golden light, deign to shine forth! After bathing, the cool breeze has kindled the light in the East and the birds are singing "OM," the primordial sound. Wake up, O. Absolute Being, wake up! All hearts here are prepared to enshrine The. All They children are here who cry for The day and night." At the end tonight, we'll move outside to eat dinner and sing bhajans. There's always a giant birthday cake and ice cream. It's fun!
