Guest guest
What happened to Amma? I know a lot about what lots of other people think about diet. To the best of my knowledge, vegetarians destroy dairy products, beans, grains, vegetables and fruits when they eat. Some people say that's okay because carrots, etc. don't run away and don't want to run away. I'm not sure what carrots want, or mung beans either. Nor am I certain that the cow instends me to have her milk. Amma said somewhere that eating meat makes a person dull minded. Must have been Awaken Children Book 2. I always wonder how the blood type diet works with all this. Are there no type O blood people in India? They are supposed to have trouble digesting vegetable protein and to do well with meat. Type A and B do well on vegetarian diet. So says the book EAT WELL FOR YOUR TYPE. Thought kshatriyas were allowed to eat meat when in battle. Anyway in my opinion, the virtue of ahimsa is what's important. How that ahimsa is lived may vary depending on what one's duty is. Ahimsa cannot be the same for a monk as it is for a policeman or soldier. Ammachi did say that one must look at the situation where the decision is being made. (That was from an answer to a question regarding abortion made by her during last summer's retreat at Rhode Island.) Diet is one of the issues that may depend on whether a person is retired from the world or active in the world and what their activity is and where. Spiritual ethics and spiritual lifestyle can't be rigid or else, just as the dinosaur body has become extinct, that spirituality also will die out when circumstances make it impossible to follow.
