They want to kill 400,000. Trent Lott has blocked federal legislation banning cockfighting, as he represents Mississippi cockfight breeders. Please tell the governor and New Orleans tourism bureau that this will generate a boycott of the state if not cancelled. --- End forwarded message --- GOPALA SEVA animal-life, "Rita Fazio" <r.e.fazio@w...> wrote: Veal Bill Advances in New Jersey Legislature On the heels of a major victory for farm animals in Florida, legislators in the state of New Jersey have taken a major step toward enacting legislation to ban veal crates. On November 18th, the NJ Senate Agriculture Committee voted 5-1 to advance S. 1478, legislation that requires veal calves to have enough space to turn around freely and a diet that does not produce anemia. The Florida initiative, which passed earlier this month, is the first law in the US to prevent a cruel factory farming practice. It was enacted by a popular initiative after the state legislature failed to address the issue. If the NJ veal bill is enacted, it will be the first time that factory farming cruelty has been prohibited through a state legislative body. We are extremely happy with this significant victory and we'll keep you posted as the bill progresses. Please contact Governor James McGreevey and urge him to prevent animal cruelty by supporting the New Jersey veal bill (S. 1478 and A 1948). Ask that he encourage New Jersey Senators and Assemblymembers to enact this commonsense measure.
