Guest guest
Om Namah Shivaya - My thoughts about things that are not about directly relating to Amma on this list (for what it's worth): - I don't mind off topic things of interest. What I do appreciate is that they are 1) brief in nature 2) have a link for further information, rather than a long email that I have to scroll down through. I receive the digest, and I'd rather not, if at all possible, have to scroll through that stuff to get to Amma stories and inspirations. That is my preference. 3) few in comparison to the posts directly relating to Amma. This only becomes an issue for me when it appears that 4 out of 5 posts or so are about things other than Amma. Then I begin to wonder what the purpose of the list is. Again, these are only my thoughts and preferences. I understand that others will feel differently, and that's everyone's right. Nevertheless, I wanted to express this. I don't think it's discriminatory to ask people to limit off-topic posts. I think it's discernment. We have signed up for this list to discuss Amma. I do happen to be on other lists devoted to peace (and protests for the war), information on Ayurveda, Yoga, etc, just as some examples. I signed up on this list to discuss Amma. I can find out other information elsewhere, and would prefer to do that. Those are my thoughts... thank you for respectfully listening, as I do to you. This filtering (of thoughts, words, and actions) quality is very useful in life - material or spiritual. Indian spiritual leaders often use the word "discrimination" to describe the same, which I have always translated to mean "discernment". The word "discrimination", to me, has a negative shade of meaning à la apartheid, hence I prefer the word "discernment" to describe the quality. Ultimately, it does not matter what word one uses to convey the meaning, so long as the meaning gets conveyed. Just musing out loud on something I thought about for a long time ... Jai Ma! I have not been on the list for the last couple of weeks and was quite surprised that some topics on this list are better suited elsewhere. It would be very much more pertinent if everybody would direct their postings to topics about Amma and their Spiritual growth through Her. And let the rest for other lists.
