Hello dearest brothers and sisters--My name is Kevin, and I am a 31

year old man in Martin, TN. I was drawn to Ammachi while I was

studying the Gospel of Sri Ramakrshna. I continually found her as I

looked for information. After reading some of her teachings which

are available on the internet, I made a place for her in my daily

meditation. She became very real to me, as I found a love and

comfort that had been foreign to me for so long.

I have found no other devotees anywhere near me, although I

believe I am destined to meet others, as the Mother continually

leads me. I would appreciate it very much if someone could tell me

how to begin my study and practice. I plan to travel when possible

to learn at ashrams and gatherings, but am desperate to learn more

of Ammachi now.

I appreciate the kindness of all who can help me. Thank you so

much.

Dear Kevin,

Welcome! It is heartwarming to learn of your

devotion even though you've never met Amma!

(Or perhaps you have already met Her inwardly.)

If you haven't already read her biography,

"Ammachi" by Swami Amritaswarupananda, I'd read

that. (You can order it from the bookstore

at <www.ammachi.org>.) Even though you don't

have a mantra yet, you may use either one of

the mantras given on the Ammachi website or

"Ma Om" or "Aum Amriteshwariyea Namaha." These

are mantras given by Amma as "practice" mantras.

Try to set aside some time, preferably in the

morning when you can chant your mantra at least

108 times. The more you can chant it the better.

I feel you already have a heart connection with

Her and that is the number one thing. Concentrate

on that feeling all day long. There are great

examples from Amma's life about how to concentrate

on Her. My favorite is how she chanted with each

step She took, and if she forgot to chant with a

step or two she went back and took the steps over,

chanting the second time.

Mother will be coming next June, so watch the

website to see when she'll be where and make your

plans accordingly! You'll be joining a lot of other

Amma devotees! You have a great adventure ahead--

i.e. meeting the Avatar of the Age, in my humble

opinion, of course.

May Amma bless your devotion and enthusiasm!

In Her love,

Jyotsna

Jyotsna--Thank-you so very much for the information. Kenna informed

me that Ammachi will be in DC in July. Which website has the most

current schedule? As I will have to save for the trip, I would like

to make arrangements as soon as possible.

I am absolutely amazed at how many beautiful people have

already contacted me with information about Ma. She works so

vividly and quickly for her children. Thank you all.

What a Divine Meeting with Ammachi! Keep on crying to Her. That is

what she wants us all to do.

In the year 2000 there was a tragic fire at Amma's ashram in San Ramon,

CA. They had to find another hall for her visit. They chose a hall in

Marin County about a mile from where I lived. As soon as I knew she was

coming I "knew" that I wanted to offer housing to a few of Her

Children.

As it turned out, one of the women who stayed at my house was Savitri

Bess, the author of Path of the Mother. She was a wonderful guest.

Her book had just been published.

I already had an established sadhana. I did Shiva Puja every morning

and Durga Puja every evening. So the visiting devotees shared in the

prasad of my worship and we shared breakfast together before going to

the Hall.

I had my first darshan with Amma in Madison, WI when she was on her

first tour of North America in 1986 or 1987. I had also had her

darshan several other times in California. On this visit in 2000, she

gave me a mantra.

But I had my other gurus and felt a deep loyalty to them. It has only

been in the last few months that I have been saying the mantra that

Amma gave me. When I saw Her in LA a couple of weeks ago, I finally

realized that She was the Divine Mother and that She loved me no matter

what I did or which spiritual practices I did or who I "saw" as my

gurus. Her Love is so Vast. When she called me daughter, daughter,

daughter... I knew I was.
