Guest guest
Dear all--I found Amma while studying the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna. His teachings emphasized the ability to touch the Divine that is inherent in us; to understand that the Divine Mother is readily approachable and bliss pours forth from Her very essence. My first experience with the "guru/devotee" relationship was with Chalanda Sai Ma and her devotees. While at PeaceWalk 2002 in Memphis, TN, I witnessed some very unpleasant, unloving exchanges among her devotees. They were rather unapproachable and had very little interaction with others whom had come to the event. My teacher Thich Nhat Hanh was to be the keynote speaker, but Ma was to bless the event and act as sort of an emcee. I had some interest in her teachings, but by the looks of her devotees, the teachings did not have the effect I was searching for. Having found the teachings of Ammachi, I had become so hopeful and had found such happiness in Ma's open heart. However, I am now finding so many instances of Her devotees forcing people to choose between Amma and Krishna when seeking a mantra, people arguing over linguistics and semantics, and some really not good feelings going on. I was raised a Christian, and while I have left organized Christianity, I still believe that a tree is known by the fruit it bears. Christians are often taught that when their relationship is right with God, they produce fruits of the spirit such as love, compassion, wisdom. While I am still a young devotee, I feel that those who have been subject to the energy on this group in the past few days should take a deep breath, sigh "Ma," and remember what brought us here in the first place. Hope I have offended none. With lots of love, Kevin
