Sanskrit is not dead, entire village of mattur, near simogha in state

of karnataka speak sanskrit. Similarly in pune, their is a newspaper

in Sanskrit. News in sanskrit is broadcasted on state owned radio

(prasara barathi), besides news been telecasted in sanskrit in state

owned televisison channel (door darshan. Recently shakesphere

literature and Omar Kayyam poems are transalted into Sanskrit.

Besides all these Sanskrit said to be the best natural language

for programming, with its sandhi phenomenon, enormus research is

being done in this feild. As late as 19th century, followers of

reform movemnt 'arya samaj' would thorughly speak in sanskrit. Its

founder DAYANANDA SARAWATHI although Gujarathi by birth rarely spoke

in gujarathi or hindi, he always addresed in flawless sanskrit.

If damage is done to sanskrit, it is was due to government of

india inorder to appease minorities,it failed to establish Sanskrit

as national langauge. Beauty of Sanskrit is that if one speaks

sanskrit in india it is difficult say from which particular state he

hails from.
