Guest guest
Well, I am inspired out of my lurkdom to respond to this one. In response to: > The more I think about it, the more I think it was > pure fiction, actually. I > think someone wrote an inspiring story. At first I > thought it might be true, > since it is written that way. I think the issue > deserves to be settled, > based on what is true, however, and not on what > someone wants to be the case. And: > Well (smile) I'm glad you weren't the one chosen > to respond to a little girl named Virginia who > asked once long ago if there was a Santa Claus.. here's my impression: I'm intrigued that there is a questioning of whether this is fact or fiction. On short follow up to this story in question, was another post on Amma's response during a Q&A session where she said: "My children are not different from Me. I see my reflection in all of you just as one sees one's reflection in a mirror. I see you all as extensions of Myself.... " and, "Amma then proceeded to say that even though She is aware of the mental states of Her children, She does not always interfere- 'WHAT IS THE USE IF I CRY ALONG WITH THEM? THAT WONT HELP THEM. AMMA WANTS HER CHIDLDREN TO GROW STRONG " Now this wasn't questioned as Amma's words. I personally do not question it. Why? because it feels true and uplifting to me. The other story --- the unsent letter -- I deeply question --- because what Amma said "as if in a dream" does not sound like the voice of God --- it did not feel true and uplifting to me --- it felt judgmental and whiney and ego involved and plain just "not good" TO ME --- this is not the Amma I carry in my heart. I maintain that true Amma speaks only from a place of loving neutrality; from a place of upliftment; from a place of divine joy - always. Jacquie. Guest guest
om amritesvaryai namah my feeling is that the story is absolutely real. Amma is not just some neutral God who has no humanity...She is our True Mother, with a motherly love that is infinitely more intimate and protective and guiding than the any human mother could ever be. she DOES know our every thought, every nuance, everything that WE don't even know...She knows us better than we know ourselves, and has stated this on numerous occasions. and Amma DOES talk this way with LakshmiAkka....i have spoken with LakshmiAkka personally, sitting with her in Amma's room in Amritapuri, and she herself has told me of how Amma is always, at all times thinking of Her children, and never thinks of Herself....which is why LakshmiAkka is there to begin with, to see that Amma eats and all that... i understand everyone's doubt, because we all have our own personal conceptions of who Amma is....but i prefer to trust Her words implicitely, and what She has said about who She is, and who we are is entirely consistent with that letter....why is it so hard to believe that God is concerned with our every moment, and takes an active interest in us on every level? the more one reads about the saints' and sages' experiences, the more one begins to see it really can be that simple - God loves us as we are, in every moment, for all time, and is constantly, patiently, devotedly revealing Him/Her/Itself to us, though we choose not to see because we prefer our illusions...however, it's when we choose to see, when we lay ourselves down in complete and utter trust and surrender at the Feet of God, that a wondrous thing happens....we are shown....and we laugh at how silly we've been all along to complicate the simplicity of it all with our intellectual reasonings and constructions and all the other barriers we erect, and from that moment onward revel in the natural blissful intimacy of a child with its Mother...and all life becomes a wonder. may we all realise this someday.
