Guest guest
As Amma's South Indian tour rolls on... if it's Tuesday, it must be Chennai Jai Ma! Keval ================================== >From the Tamil Nadu page of http://www.newindpress.com Submission to God is key to success in life, says Mata CHENNAI: Satguru Sri Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi gave the first copy of the book titled Amruta Seva Yuva Dharma to Chennai Corporation Deputy Mayor Karate R Thiayagarajan at a function held on Monday at Mata Amritanandamayi Math in Virugambakkam. The Deputy Mayor, in turn, gave the first copy to the music composer Deva. Noted dance exponent Padma Subramaniam gave the first copy of the Math's souvenir 'Amrita 2003' to Yashoda, an MLA. Mata Amritanandamayi Devi said, ''Everything in this world happens according to the Lord's wishes. Let us not have unnecessary tension.'' She asked the gathering not to blame themselves if they were unsuccessful in their work in spite of their best efforts. Because, according to her, there are many factors beyond our reach. She asked people to surrender to the Lord in order to be successful in life. ''Our life has become easy because of many scientific inventions. But it is of no use when our mind is restless. For, fear has engulfed every one's mind. Because of this fear and unnecessary tension, diseases have gone up, for which there is no medicine. The only solution to this problem is through spiritual growth.'' Commenting on our thinking process, Mata said, ''Think well before speaking anything.'' Giving an example from Mahabharatha, she noted, ''If lakhs of people lost their lives during the Mahabharatha war, it was because of the loose talks of Draupadi.'' About anger, she said, ''It is foolish to get angry. For, if you get angry for a minute, we lose the enjoyment for those 60 seconds.'' One of the other factors leading to our defeat is the element of pride in us, said the Mata. ''In Mahabharatha, Karna was powerful than Arjuna. But it was the pride in Karna that killed him. It does not mean that Arjuna did not have pride about his strength. But the reason for his success was that he surrendered himself to Sri Krishna.'' Her final word of advice for those present there was not to think about the past nor to be worried about the future. ''Work and be happy for the present,'' she said. Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable.
