I would say that that is far too limited a description of Amma. Amma Herself has stated that all the Gods and Goddesses exist within Her as difference aspects of the One Consciousness. I would like to add a few points: * Amma used to give Krishna Bhava darshan (in the early days) where she identified herself with him and found that he resides inside her. * During deep meditation as a young girl, she realised that she could contemplate upon any form of God and 'become' one with it. * Latitha Sahasranama mentions that Devi takes a multitude of forms including Vishnu and Shiva. Thus, she is the beginning, the middle and the end. * Amma chose to identify herself with the divine mother because, it is only in this mood that she feels compassion for the suffering. The 'purusha' or male aspect of god stands for justice, punishment for wrong doing, etc. but he also has certain charming features. * Amma's choice of identifying herself as Devi is for the good of the world, which is suffering in no uncertain terms. In fact, when she wanted to merge with the supreme being after undergoing much difficulties in her early life, she heard a voice saying 'I have much for you to do, before you return'. * In her world, there is no difference between Devi and Krishna or Shiva or any other form. But lesser mortals (such as myself), upon seeing her shed many layers during Devi Bhava think of her as the supreme divine mother. [Only a realised soul can look upon a sphere of light and worship it. An untrained mind needs to associate with forms and figures to make it easier to understand.] Thus, she is in constant communion with Devi and Devi's husband is Shiva :-) [Notice that I never once said that Ammachi's husband is Shiva. No!] Gender ,relationships and forms exist in our world, not hers. They are the one and the same.
