Guest guest
Regarding BUGS, which I HAD a serious dislike of, and spiders in particularly a definite PHOBIA, I have a story. Some time before the last program in Ann Arbor, we were redoing the altar configuration in the ashram, taking everything down and cleaning, etc. So when the re-assembly was going on, I carefully hung a golden cloth from the ceiling to the floor and was preparing to drape it just so, and a HUGE, I mean really fat juicy spider was sitting right in the middle of the cloth. I was mystified because I myself had taken the cloth from a bag that I brought in, I didn't think there were any spiders in that stupid bag! My breath stopped and I began to cry and back away from the cloth and the spider. My friend who was helping me, who is not afraid of spiders, told me to back away. She would take care of the REALLY BIG spider. It had orange stripes and a body the size of my thumbnail, and of course if any of you dear devotees still have phobias, you know how the mind can magnify the object of your fear to monstrous proportions and that is what happened. My heart was beating out of my chest and the spider was getting bigger (in my mind). When this spider saw me that day, however, he or she was very lucky because I only stopped breathing and cried and backed away. The spider was put outside carefully, it took some time for my heart to return to it's normal cadence, and I thanked Amma for the lesson and that someone was there to help me. So the point of this story is that prior to meeting Amma and being taught about fear and about the spirit in all things I would have so smashed that HUGE orange stripedy spider so flat, it wouldn't have lasted a moment! I now tolerate bugs in my universe, I can't say I love them yet, someday I plan to, with Amma's grace . ===== Om Namashivaya - In Amma's service, Supriti Omenka Nnadi Tax Center - forms, calculators, tips, more http://taxes./
Guest guest
Oh Suprika! Mother does work on us, huh? About five years ago I was staying in a friend's in-law apt. above a garage in Berkeley for the November San Ramon programs. It started to rain, and dozens and dozens of spideys started showing up inside. I tried to see them as 8-armed Devis, to only little effect on my nerves, especially when one crawled across my face in bed. But I've also had experiences sitting in the meditation hall in San Ramon where a buzzing fly lands on my nose, and immediately suffused my being with a sense of lying under Kali's Feet themselves! It became predictably cosmic - a fly would buzz, land around my nose, and my body would react to the "darshan," falling into some deep state, as if Mother Herself had just taken the form. Love, Prashanti
