Guest guest
Namah Shivaya dear Siblings in Amma, Noticed a couple of members were testing to see if the list is functioning. It has been awfully quiet for awhile. What's going on out there with all of Amma's darlings? This child's faith is being tested by the current world situation. It just occurred to me that at least for this child it would be comforting to envision 2 world leaders in particular in Amma's divine lap. In a recent post puja conversation one of our members shared with us that in studies showing the effects of prayer, the prayer that had the best effect was "Thy will be done." Since the list is so slow, thought I'd offer the following, which came to me from the newletter of Amma's children in Michigan: Amma's 14 points for sadhaks 1. When thinking about what to do, consider how each of your actions will be of service to humanity 2. Progress is being made when you can retain evenness of mind in the face of praise and shame, honor and dishonor. 3. Communication begins when you fully understand the other person's point of view. 4. If you cannot speak with love and respect, wait until you can. 5. When you harm anyone, you harm everyone, especially your own self. 6. If someone is doing something that you find really offensive, check to see whether you are doing something similar to someone else or to yourself. 7. Make an appointment with God each day and hold that as your highest priority. 8. Practice withdrawing the mind from sense objects. 9. Balance your life with jnana (knowledge), karma (work), and bhakti (devotion) yoga. 10. Excessive talking increases mental turbulence, drains your energy, and drowns the subtle voice of God within. 11. Read a passage from the Guru's teachings every day. 12. Establish a sadhana (spiritual practice) plan and follow it as sincerely as possible. 13. Take advantage of the stillness of the early morning hours for meditation and prayer. 14. Don't just apologize for hurting someone; make the firm resolve that you will never again do that painful act to anyone. THY WILL BE DONE. I forget his name now but he is one of Sri Ananda Ma's disciples. He offered that the deeper meaning of "Om Namah Shivaya" is "Thy will be done." Guest guest
Dear sister in Amma, thank you for taking the time to post these 14 points. I have printed them out and right now am rereading the first one several times a day. "1. When thinking about what to do, consider how each of your actions will be of service to humanity." After getting daily more remebrance and awareness of this point in my mind, then I am going to go to point number 2. Maybe that will be in a few days or next week. I want to do this slowly with all of the points. I appreciate this inspiration in my spiritual endeavours. By Amma's grace, may their seeds find some fertile ground in this ego-infested field land mined with negative tendencies.
