Two items:

First, Faintglow, I love your story. Can't wait to

learn more!

Second, I need (for myself) to apologize for some

of the remarks I made about my desire to be with Amma.

Amma has let me know that this is not

something I should complain about. My only

excuse is that I was recovering from surgery

when I wrote that--just a little crabby possibly.

I am humbly sorry.

Thanks again Sister Jyotsna for your appreciation and indulgence.

On that bit about Amma letting you know what She wanted or did not

want you to do, I am amazed and curious. Did you hear from Her

personally or a representative or was it in a dream or realization of

some kind?

You don't have to tell if it is private, needless to mention. But I

don't get many calls from Her on specific matters and I am positively

envious!

Thanks and regards

Hi friend fg,

Well, um, the truth is I felt "convicted" (to

borrow a word from my Christian background) about

it as soon as I wrote it and more or less wrestled

with feelings of embarrassment all the next day. I

don't recall the exact timing of the writing and the

wrestling, but the "next" morning when I awoke there

was a very clear sense of "communication" from Amma.

That's when I knew I had to publicly apologize.

My sense, in all sincerity, is that Amma does indeed

live in our hearts, and She sometimes deems it

necessary to talk to me through that medium. (I

probably need a lot more correction than you do!)

The first time this ever happened was at work in

1995 or 6, when a co-worker wanted me to do

something I didn't want to do for ego reasons.

Amma felt like a bulldozer in my heart!

Humbly,

Jyotsna

Thank you Brother Ravi. Your words are kind.

I am extremely sorry but I have to decline an answer to your

question. Your curiosity is perfectly understandable; one always

strives to match names, places, backgrounds and such to the

identities one comes across online in order to generate a more

complete image.

However I chose to use a handle rather than my true name when I

joined this list as I thought that device would give me the greatest

latitude while writing, if I ever wished to write. It is not that I

have anything incendiary to say, just that preserving my anonymity

makes it easier for me to write freely. IMHO, it adds a degree of

freedom and also a layer of protection, the latter being particularly

important in guarding against the effects of praise. There is an ever-

present risk that praise (your own lavish compliments being a case in

point) can go to my head, and abort the very transformation I am

seeking with all my energy to achieve. Praise is ego-destructive (a

good thing, spiritually) for the giver and potentially ego-accretive

(a bad thing, spiritually) for the receiver, as I am sure you know.
