Jai Ma!

Our list is feeling like this lovely spring day we just enjoyed in the upper

midwest.

Such sweet offerings (and so well-written!).

Thanks all you dear siblings in Amma.

Namah Shivaya, dear Siblings in Amma.

All this inspiring talk about the sand at Amritapuri is bringing back such

fond memories.

So finally reached for my journal to share just a few lines from our January

2000 stay there:

"My ego, relentless as sand,

goes everywhere,

gets into everything.

Sweep it out today,

it returns tomorrow.

Put rugs and mats in front of your door,

it's in your bed by night."

Some of us were just talking today about how Amritapuri was once mostly

swampy land that Amma and her earliest followers filled by carrying buckets

and buckets of sand from the seashore, a distance of about 2 blocks away.

At the time it must have seemed as daunting as hugging 21 million people.

And this, just in:

We are Her oysters,

She is our sand.

And with enough time

we will each become what she likes to call us:

Pearl (Muthu)

Thank you Brother Bala.

What you say is true and very well put. I have often had similar

thoughts but have never fleshed out the allegory with the skill of a

Ravi Verma (a famous painter from Kerala who was known for his 'life-

like' works of landscapes and other subjects) which is what you have

done.
