My time here in India is drawing to a close. This is the last day in Calicut, thank God, and it's back to Amritapuri on the train tomorrow. A natural process started yesterday, and I (according to Hindu beliefs) am not allowed in the temple for three days, not allowed to participate in the pujas, etc. Dark age religion! Also I don't know if it's the herbal laxative tea of roommate R's that I took yesterday, or something else, but I have diahrrea and gave my acidophilus to that flake B --not her real initial-- who insisted on taking the whole bottle because she said they wouldn't be any good if she took them out of the brown glass. I guess my lesson is not to give stuff away here. Last night when I ate my dinner of kunni (watery rice and vegetabls) I began to experience severe cramping in my upper abdominal tract. I immediately prayed to Ammachi and the pain eased. But I can feel my guts "bubbling along" today. I wish I had my acidophilus. If H comes back, I may try to describe B to her and see if she can get them back. Well, Mother has been punishing me--perhaps it's more accurate to say disciplining me--for not behaving properly the other night when I arrived (most inopportunely, in my mind) at a very quiet moment in the program, and she kept (or so it seemed to me) looking at me.
