Guest guest
I have never met Amma, and am not sure yet if she is my Guru. I have a feeling she is because of several coincidences and signs I've noticed since putting her photo up over my desk. That, plus the fact that I've been drawn to her from the first moment I saw her. I've never met her before, but plan to in July for a public darshan. These are my questions for anyone who may know: 1. If I have a question or two for Amma, will I have a chance to ask during the public program I'm attending? When does she usually take questions? 2. Is it appropriate for me to ask for mantra if I'm not sure yet if she's my Guru? Of course, once there I may realize she is, in which case this question will be moot. 3. Can anyone with more expierence recommend a good question to ask for a recently realized devotee? I know I may ask about which path to follow - that is very important to me. But is there anything else I should think about asking? I recently found out I have significant sannyasin karma in my birthchart, but I'm wondering if there are different ways to fulfill that - I would like to marry and have a family someday. Any thoughts on that? Thank you very much for reading this. I've never been religious and only recently have realized how much I love God. I want to be sure I'm doing the right thing in this lifetime, you know? Anyway, thank you.
Guest guest
Om Amriteshwaryai namah, I want to thank everyone who took the time to respond to my post. I greatly appreciate your advice, and was inspired and encouraged by each response. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and insights with me! I hope to be able to attend at least one of the retreats this summer, and sense that Amma will clarify all my questions without my having to ask her verbally. When I am in Her presence, all questions dissolve...When I received my mantra from Her in 1997, She showed me what it means to have a still mind. ALL thoughts disappeared, and what was left was peace. When I am in Amma's physical presence, there is no confusion, no questions about what I should do with my life, no worries about my vasanas, etc. The difficulty for me comes when I am not with Her physical presence, when I am bombarded with hundreds of vasanas, and my mind tries to seek happiness in external things. I have found that it is imperative for me to have good association in order to remain steadfast on the path. Otherwise, my mind plays tricks on me and I fall into old habits which are not conducive to sadhana. Of course, Amma often uses interpersonal relationships as a way to get rid of our vasanas, so sometimes good assocation doesn't feel so good to us! The fact that my experiences in Vaisnava temples has been so blissful makes it difficult for me to feel enthusiastic about moving back to Amritapuri. But I am willing to give it another try (I enter Ketu dasa in September - which should give different results than when I want last time during my Sade Sati period). Perhaps the tour this summer will dissolve the resistance and fear I feel with regards to this. Laksmi dasi (or is your name now nandi amma?) - I was deeply moved by your heartfelt letter. I can identify with many of the feelings and thoughts you described, as I too have had similar concerns and experiences (though my experiences within ISKCON have been very positive and beneficial - perhaps too blissful, as it has led to a lot of confusion with regard to my sadhana). Where are you located now? Do you have plans to return to Amritapuri? I am very grateful to be able to communicate with Amma's devotees! Jai Ma! Guest guest
Dear friend, I hope this will help with at least a couple of your questions... The first thing I would offer is that once we are in Amma's presence, we are in the presence of pure Love, and somehow the Grace just flows and everything works out for the best. Sometimes people spontaneously ask Amma questions during darshan, but there is also a question line set up just for that purpose. If you would like, perhaps we could exchange contact info before going to see Amma in Dallas, and once there, I could help you find the person who coordinates the question line. Also, I have a feeling your mantra question will indeed be answered once you're there. Just follow your heart, and you can't go wrong. I know everyone has a different experience with Amma, but I myself asked for a mantra from Amma before I even knew what the whole guru/disciple relationship was about! I will say, though, that if it feels right, it's a precious gift to receive. Blessings to you, Amala --- MSoliz <msoliz2000 wrote: > I have never met Amma, and am not sure yet if she is > my Guru.
