SPECIAL 4-DAY TABLA RETREAT w/Pandit Sharda Sahai, May

6-9

 

 

Renowned tabla master from the Benares tradition,

Pandit Sharda Sahai will be offering a 4-day Tabla

Retreat with daily classes & a solo concert hosted by

the East-West School of Music at Ananda Ashram,

Monroe, NY.

 

 

"To hear Pandit Sharda Sahai is an extremely rare

event. This is the master. What follows is a

performance of dazzling complexity, enormous

power, lightning speed & clarity, with deep

seriousness yet sparkling with jokes."

 

 

SCHEDULE Tuesday May 6 (10 am) - Friday May 9, 2003

1 beginners & 1 intermediate/advanced class daily

2 practice sessions daily (except Friday)

In Concert: Thursday May 8th, 8:30pm Sarangi

accompaniment by Pandit Ramesh Misra, $15 (included

with full workshop registration)

Private lessons optional

 

TUITION $190 (includes concert admission)

Partial attendance: $40/class, $10/group practice

session

ALL INCLUSIVE RATE $330 dorm / $375 semiprivate

includes ashram accommodations, *meals, **core ashram

During this retreat we will commune with the tabla,

surrounded by the peace & healing sanctity of nature

at Ananda Ashram. The Ashram is situated in a

beautiful, natural environment one hour from Manhattan

with easy bus & train transport.

 

No previous experience necessary. Students are

required to bring their own tabla. Instruments can be

purchased directly from Benares at a rate comparable
