Guest guest
Om namaha shivaia I waited 5 years before asking for a name, at first I didn’t know this possibility and thought it was only for priests/sisters. The last year I felt the urge to have an Amma’s name, for me it was like to be regognised as Amma’s daughter, as Her devotee, to belong to Her, to have a blessing by Her. It was/is not for “fashion” or cultish, it only makes tighter my bound to Amma. When I asked Her for a name, She was as usually talking to Swamis and giving instructions, so I didn’t at first understood She was answering me “Yes” and my mind was worried and thinking “Was it yes or was She talking to the Swami?”, when She suddenly turned again towards me and repeated very loudly and with a seamingly angry face: “YES!!!”. This ment a lot to me, In that period I felt, but I didn’t know which was my way and She accepted me officially!…. It was only later that I asked about a Sanscrit name and I was explained by a renunciant that Amma sees in you what your dharma is, which characteristics you have to develop at the best. A name by Her remembers you of it, and I can tell you it is true!: each time I am called by Her name “Prasida” I remember that I belong to Her, what I have to do and, if I am in a particularly “down” period, I feel Her presence stronger and remember that problems and difficulties help us getting better people. It is too easy to “go down” in this modern world, especially if you’re not surrounded by a “spiritual” atmosphere (people). Anyway I use my Amma’s name only with Amma’s devotees or some other spiritual groups; I don’t want that others think I feel myself too important and different so that I changed name; my mother and other close friend don’t even know of it, they would not understand and this would cause only problems. Guest guest
Namaste everyone, I have been reading from time to time...but do not comment much ....I hope everyone is well ....I felt I had to ask if it is true that you have a stronger bond with Amma or any guru with the name of that guru....and if so do you have to be in her presence to get one...I have never met Amma and do not feel that I am ready or worthy to meet her just yet...although I would like to I also do not have the means to do this yet... Please let me know if there is another way to receive a blessed name from Amma... Thank you...
