Guest guest
Hi I just put this story on the other amma list- thought i'll send it here too.. Thanks Aravind, I was wondering who would ask me that story :-) ... this is a very moving story , told to me by a friend here at San Ramon .. Once Amma was visiting the north indian town of baroda for Her darshan programmes. The coordinator hadnt booked the hall in time( or rather at the correct date - there was some mistake somewhere -I am not sure what exactly was the mistake), with the result that on what was to be the first day of darshan, the hall was not available! So Amma couldnt give darshan that day to the people, and people came only the second day . Well Amma and Her swamis had arrived the previous night, were told of the mistake, and so the next morning , when Swamiji woke up, He came looking for Amma. Amma wasnt there in Her room. So he went looking outside to the other room etc. He couldnt find Her there either. Worried , he alerted the others in the group- and no one knew were Amma had gone , that too at that early hour . So they went searching for Amma - they left the building , walked down the streets looking for Amma. After they went a few streets, they spotted Amma- She had a broom in Her hands , and She was sweeping the streets! They were of course aghast at the sight . They ran up to Her asking what WAS going on! Why was Amma up this early- why had She left- and why ON EARTH WAS SHE cleaning the streets?!!!!? To which Amma replied " Because of a mistake of one of Amma's children, Amma could not be of service to baroda today.( because the darshan was cancelled). So Amma is trying to compensate for that , by trying to serve the residents of baroda this way- by cleaning their streets!". what selflessness! She slaves night and day for other peoples' sake, and on one day even if there is some mistake, rather than take a break, Amma still is itching to serve others in someway or other .... thats why i say there are simply no words to describe Amma. bala The New Search - Faster. Guest guest
That story is such an inspiration to me! Thank you for sharing it. Since opening my heart to Amma's example of compassion, I have found myself feeling more compassionate toward others. No longer do I say hurtful things to people when they hurt me. I don't shake my fist at a driver for cutting me off on the highway. I don't sigh in frustration when an elderly woman toddles slowly in front of me at the grocery store. I still feel frustrated, angry, and hurt, but I am more careful about making others suffer for my own feelings. And you know what? It lessens those negative feelings when I don't share them, and I feel them less often. Thanks to all of you, Thanks to Amma's compassion, MSoliz Ammachi, balakrishnan Shankar <balakrishnan_sh> wrote: > > Hi > > I just put this story on the other amma list- thought i'll send it > here too.. > > > Thanks Aravind, > > I was wondering who would ask me that story :-) ... this is a very > moving story , told to me by a friend here at San Ramon .. > > Once Amma was visiting the north indian town of baroda for Her > darshan programmes.
