In December 1999 a fourteen year old Tibetan boy-monk

in disguise embarked on a perilous mountain journey,

to reach Dharamsala in India, under the protection of

the Dalai Lama.

He was the 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, the

spiritual leader of the Kagyu Buddhist lineage.

Although he is only 17 years old, he is said to have

assumed the greatness of the first Gyalwa Karmapa. A

story filled with the magic of Tibetan Buddhism is

told by Michelle Martin.
